Our wonderful pd needs to hire some good ppl instead of kids tht have attitudes. Potter likes showing his authority. Harrassment ? Yes. I support Brooks in the war on pills but his officers need to learn tht they r part of our community. Not above it. I know several working men tht get stopped at least twice a week for crossing the line Potter says. These ppl wrk at night and r tired wen the have to travel by coeburn to get home. If Potter is working they get stopped. It will b a point of discussion at our next town meeting

Why don't you go talk to Brooks. That's what they will tell you at the meeting.

I used to be part of cpd auxiliary. I enjoyed it. There are some great people I met in Coeburn an miss it dearly. I quit...... Well lets leave it at that. No reason needs to be given that may cause malaise to others.

I met Mr. Brooks a few times when he was with wcso, and to be honest I would love to be on his roster. I think he (if given the latitude by the town leaders) will indeed take a proactive approach to help with the substance abuse, distribution, and selling in town!

As far as officers acting like they are above the citizens, a lot of times with the badge comes a "god complex" I'm absolutely sure if a complaint is made chief brooks will work to resolve the issue.

I THINK COEBURN IS TRYING TO DO A JOB THAT ALSO REQUIRES OFFICERS TO BE DISLIKED. I THINK YOU NEED TO GIVE THEM THE OPPORTUNITY TO START DOING A JOB THAT HAS GONE SO LONG WITHOUT DOING WHAT NEEDED TO BE DONE. YOU ALWAYS HAVE SOMEONE OUT THEIR COMPLAINING ABOUT THE JOB THAT IS GETTING DONE OR NOT GETTING DONE. THIS IS MAINLY A NEW FORCE AND THEY ARE TRYING TO DO THEIR JOB. YOU DO NOT KNOW WHAT THE DEPARTMENT IS GOING THROUGH UNLESS YOU ARE A PART OF THAT DEPARTMENT. I KNOW MOST OF THE OFFICERS AND I THINK THEY ARE DOING A GOOD JOB, MAYBE IF WE WOULD ABIDE BY THE LAWS AND NOT BREAK THEM THEN WE WOULD NOT NEED TO COMPLAIN ABOUT THEM. NO ONE KNOWS THE STRESS THAT OFFICERS ARE DEALING WITH DAILY, NO ONE KNOWS THE COUNTLESS HOURS THEY PUT IN DAILY, NO ONE KNOWS THE DANGERS THEY ARE CONTINUALLY DEALING WITH DAILY. SOMETIMES A FEW GOOD WORDS, A THANK YOU OR JUST A SMILE WOULD MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN HOW THEY ACT AND FEEL TOWARDS OTHERS. I AM FOR ONE WHO IS THANKFUL TO THEM FOR A JOB WELL DONE AND EVEN IF TODAY THEY WOULD WRITE ME A TICKET I WOULD SMILE, SIGN AND THANK THEM FOR A JOB THAT IS SO UNFORGIVING AND UNTHANKFUL. WHAT A PLACE WE WOULD BE IN WITHOUT THEM AND THAT IS WHAT I DO NOT WANT TO SEE HAPPEN.

all i ever see them doing is sitting at some store.and i cant tell that there are different cops here.nothing has changed so far.and i really dont think their job is really that dangerous.this aint no big city where they have hardened criminals to arrest.it is the occasional drunk and disorderly.a cop can work in this county his whole career and never use his weapon.but it really dont matter that much to me who the cops are,i take care of my own.(no need for them)

What you don't realize there have been officers in this county that have shot someone in the line of their duty. It can happen anywhere at any time, so get over yourself and stop the hate. With all these synthetic drug users, bath salt users, and needle junkies it's hard to say when it will happen. I pray the officers stay safe!!

Well..... The sheriff's office had four different officers that had shot someone in the line of duty. Just to educate you, the Chief of Coeburn has been involved in a shooting. So there's the facts! No hate here. They never know when and where, it can happen!!

Poker, may I ask who our referring to but " the one who shot himself?" And I think it more about not letting "history" repeat itself. Regardless the one frame of a shooting, it can be real.

Hey porker, don't contradict yourself, you said it wasn't a dangerous job. Anyway yep, the "chief" as you put did have to shoot someone. So, yea he was involved in "a" shooting. So, whats your point. You actually think a can't and won't happen here?? Wake up man!! Look around it's getting bad everywhere, we are not shielded from violence! A baby was murdered, stabbing at Food City! All leads to these idiots on drugs!!

i would hope that a "chief"of police would be familiar with shootings.wtf.and coeburn is not that bad of a place.and it aint that dangerous here in coeburn.and a knife is probably the only weapon that a dopie could get their hands on.if they had a gun, they would sell it for their dope lmao.

Poker, your HIGHLY mistaken by the whole preception of a "dopie". Do you think a "dopie" is going to registure his/her gun? No. Why are you so absent minded to the fact that it could happen here. For example, the Sandy Ridge school shooting. The towns people interviewed spoke of such horrific event happening in other placed BUT their beloved SMALL TOWE HOME. What makes you so confident it WOULDN'T happen here....
