How do the owners of R & S Helping Hands expect to keep quality workers when they pay them minimum wage ? No wonder they have such a huge turnover when they hire just anybody to do this kind of work. They only have a few employees that actually care about these poor clients but that wont last if they continue to pay such low wages. Teenagers at Food City make more than this. I know the owners live like kings, so why not at least pay 10 dollars an hour ? That way they would not have to post a notice for employment EVERY week in the paper and they could keep the good ones. When your paying the minimum, you gotta expect people to call in, steal narcotics, and just totally neglect these clients who need the best care possible. THINK ABOUT IT

I got a job with them about a year ago. On my first day, there was 2 feet of snow on the ground and I had trouble finding the house I was supposed to go to. The directions they gave me were bad. I called them numerous times while driving in the ice and snow when I could have just gone home. After telling them the directions were bad and I didn't know what they were talking about, they kept giving me the same awful directions. The last time I called them, they said, "don't worry about coming in, we will call you next time we want you to work."

I went home and never heard from them again. That's okay, because I soon got a job with PPL and they were never able to take the money back out of my check for my background check and stuff, since they never gave me a chance to work. Too bad, they passed up a great worker. They are very unprofessional.

R & S does not pay the best and the owners do not run the company the way it should be.. but to say the employees dont care is wrong. They have some good employees who have been there for years and would do anything and have to see the client get the best care. As far as high turn over goes...some people would not work in a pie factory tasting pies.

I don't know how you can say those clients are not cared about, I know better then that. As far as the owners go they are a bunch of money hungry @$*holes who don't care about NOBODY but themselves.

I worked at R & S for a couple years and you couldnt ask for a better boss or company to work for they treated their clients and employees exceptionally well i loved every minute i worked there...... as far as the pay it didnt matter the best part of the job was improving the life of the clients and im so thankful that i had the experience and memories that i made there and miss every minute of it.....

I worked at R&S for over 3 yrs & still love the clients! It was the best job I have ever had and I couldnt have asked for better bosses than C.W. & P.W.! The clients were given the best care while I was there & every shift I worked I personally made sure of it! As far as the turnover rate it is the stupidity of the new employees! That job is not for just anyone! You have to truly care about improving each clients quality of life! As far as the pay goes its not the amount paid its the quality of the workers! In the time I worked there I recieved 4 raises due to excellent evaluations! And I may consider going back!:) Nothing but love for R&S Helping Hands!!!

It's not the same as it use to be a few years ago. As far as the bosses go they can only give a raise when the owners allow then to. It's said when somebody has put over 9 years in a company and don't even make ten dollars a hour.

I feel very fortunate to be part of an awesome team of people who genuinely care about the people who choose to receive services there. At R&S all the staff go above and beyond to provide only the best to the individuals we serve. Yes there have been some people who have been hired who didn't care, but thankfully they were not allowed to stay. I know for a fact that random drug testing is done often and some people have had to be terminated. R&S is just like every other company, they canonly hire those who apply, but I have seen firsthand that drug use is not tolerated. A far as pay goes, the start pay is $8.00 an hour. With most companies, raises are based on job performance, senioriy, and the financial circumstances of the company. When anyone takes a job, pay is discussed at the onset. If people agree to take a job at a certain rate and the company fulfills the agreement, then where do they have cause to complain. R&S as an agency is known statewide for taking individual who have not worked out in other placements, but more importantly we are known for providing excellent service, health care, and a personal touch. If you are an employee at R&S then you may have a reason to speak up, otherwise where is it any of your business what the company pays it's staff. If you do not go through the proper channels to discuss issues, how do you ever get the results you want? If you choose to bash the company on Topix, this really doesn't say alot for you as a person or as an employee. I have always felt that I can go to the supervisors with any issues that I may have, without fear of recourse. I love R&S, the Residents, and the Staff and feel priviledged to be a part of something so awesome.

That blond that used to work there stole their meds and hid in the bathroom snorting their stuff. She's bragged about it to everyone. She don't still work there does she?

R&S has a few good people who have been there for year who do are,the rest of them are there for a pay check.

The owners dont give a flip about those who they ARE PAID to care for. Stop by and ask them about the insane rationing of food some time and find out for yourself,if you can get an honest answer.

Lets just say this.If the right person would go into this place at the right time, they would shut R&S down!

.....and by the way,yes I do know what I'm talking about.

Well people if its really that bad there, to the point where they are rationing food, what other services are these people not getting? I am an LPN and in my expierience of working in several homes and places for the elderly and mentally handicapped, food is usually the last thing to go. it usually starts with essential supplies that the staff needs to take the proper care of these people! "Think so" if you really know what you are talking about why have you not called the state, the DSS, or even and Ombudsman to come and look into these things? I understand that they do not pay very much but that is what you people comlaining about pay "agreed" to work for and btw most people who work in these areas of taking care of others are not in it for the money, they are in it because that is where there heart is! I can remember my first year nursing instructor repeatdly telling our class that if we were in nursing school to make big money and our heart was not in it we shouldn't even come back! I will admitt yes I have made decent money as a nurse but the biggest reward I have ever had in my career is going home and knowing that I made a difference in someone's life! When a patient, resident or family member would come to me before others because they knew they could depend on me or when they would tell me "thank you", "I will miss you", "be careful on your way home", "Do you work tomorrow", "you are such a blessing", these are the best parts of a job like R&S offers!! If you have or do work there and its really that bad you can only do so much as one person to make sure the patients or residents you love are properly taken care! So for GODS SAKE PEOPLE call someone, at least then you will know that you done everything that you could to properly care for your patients, IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY AS A HEALTHCARE WORKER!!!!!!!!!!

The truth is that the owners don't care about the staff or the clients at r and s. The food rationing is very true. It is also true that people that have worked there less than a year and new people got a .75 raise while the other staff that have made the company what it is got nothing. R and s has two possible futures 1 sell the company 2 continue down the same road and be closed by the state.
