In time we will see if we made the right decision, Coeburn needs changes, I hope that we see them. Reappointing Petie was not a change, and we needed that change! The officers that I know, are good officers, they just need a leader. How can one fire officers of things that they are guilty of themselves? If i remember correctly they violated their code of ethics.

When I first met him I thought he was a pretty good guy. But after observing his actions while on the school board and his first actions as a town coucil member and mayor, I will have to say I was wrong. He ranks right up there with that idiot Kyle Fletcher and Jack Kiser as a person least qualified to lead a town. Jess, if you read this, please quit behaving like a child, and quit acting like a sheep by following blindly in others footsteps. The consolidation issue is done so please move on and quit trying to pay back people. In the end you will be the loser, I promise.

The people didn't take anything back. A small vengeful, political mob on topix thinks they are the town. Lmao!!!!! Tards. This council will do some good things and other things no one agrees with. Can't please them all.

Then you are a moron! Lmao! That would have been a big mistake! She's got no place on any council. This new council will do alright by some people and not by others. And they have to keep in mind as someone said in the meeting they serve the entire community not the 250 or so voters that came out. FYI out of approximately 2000 people (200) are not the majority and certainly not the 5 or 10 on topix. If I were them I'd discard anything said on this trash site! Lol

Jess fought to keep the school in Coeburn. I guess to a lot in town that didn't mean anything. Like everything else pride of home town and keeping our kids in our town mean nothing at all. Yes the killing of the schools is done, now this year and even longer the kids will be bussed back and forth to ST. Paul because of this idiotic decision. Anyone with half a brain which rules out most of wise county, all of the BOS. and school board could read the writing on the wall and realize that the county is soon to be in big trouble. There was a story last spring about a $100,000,000 new school in CA that was sitting vacant, they built it but had no money to even pay the utilities on it. That's soon to be Wise county. In the end only wise will be open, everyone else could rot in hell before they cut anything from wise. Watch what you wish for you might just get it to find out it was the last think you needed.

True but be sure of this when the town says we don't want you to give away what few assets we have, they will listen unlike the last bunch.

Jess didn't fight to keep our school. He boycotted meetings & made a mockery of our county government. His poor decision making & shameful attendance record cost him his school board seat. Don't let him ruin the reputation of this town. We are better than this. Coeburn is full of good people. Don't let one misguided power hungry person ruin it.

Jess fought to keep the school open, my ass! That is unless doing nothing is how you measure "trying". He walked out of the first meeting he attended as a new school board member and then boycotted more meetings. He can lie and make up whatever lame excuse he wants to but he and anyone with an IQ above 30 know he was boycotting the meetings as a tactic, along with the rest of the school board members who were against consolidation. You know to my knowledge the school in Coeburn is still open and due to be renovated on top of that! You act as if Coeburn was one of the schools that was closed. Your post gives you away as somone who only motivation is harboring a grudge against those who were for consolidation. Running the Coeburn town governmant has nothing to do with the school board or their decision to shut down three schools. If Jess and the "new administration" use that as their litmus test for making decisions for governing the town, then Coeburn will indeed suffer.

It's very bad when the new council members voted against the wishes of the alumni association. They gave over $1,000,000 to build the track & field. They want it maintained & the town can't afford it. The school board has allocated funds for this type of facility upkeep, but the board is choosing to disrespect the biggest donor the school has. It's so embarrassing. Many alumni members are disgusted. Their hardwork & money means nothing to the new council.
