Keep telling yourself that, it could come true. You call yourself "educated, clean, smart and beautiful" and then proceed to post in a manner that indicates anything but that. Grow up. Bye Bye... |

Kinda' like Bel Air where you can buy some cocaine and a used car at the same dealership? |

Every neighborhood has it's problems. If you're too busy looking at the problems somewhere else, you're not looking at the problems in your back yard. |

I live in Parkville. I'm not thrilled with it, but I've never seen drug deals go down in broad daylight with people surrounding you like I have a little farther south into the city. When going to a laundry mat in Hamilton there's a heroin dealer that walks around the laundry mat and sells to people in front of everyone. The cops drive by and talk to him every time I'm over there. I guess he's stopping by to get his cut. I've also seen people loudly hawking prescription narcotics as if in a farmer's market.
Baltimore in general is riddled with addiction, especially opioids and crack/cocaine. It's a ghetto city. If you don't live in Homeland or some other $500,000-home area, it's a bad place to live, and I'm from St. Louis originally. I'd move away in a heartbeat if I didn't work in DC. |

I agree with you completely. I have been in Dundalk for 3 years now. I am not from Maryland originally, and I am always befuddled by the reputation that Dundalk has among Marylanders. I live down the street from most of the nice parts of the city, I kayak, I run by the water, there are a bunch of parks for my kids to play in, and I live in a beautiful quiet neighborhood. I live in a nice 3 bedroom single family home with a good sized lot, and with all that, my mortgage costs me less per month than renting a 2 bedroom apartment in Columbia cost me when I lived there 4 years ago. It is insane that you can get an elegant, refurbished brick colonial in Old Dundalk for less than a townhouse in Glen Burnie, and it all comes down to the fact that Dundalk has been the butt of Marylands jokes for decades, and people write it off because they don't want to feel embarrassed when they tell people where they live. So instead they pay a fortune to live in some more sketchy, uglier town. |

Well Mike years ago we had two very untalented radio announcers who made their career on putting down Dundalk. So quite a few people, who do not have the intelligence to recognize the damage these comments made on our community, joined in. Never having lived here or even been in our area they jumped on a bandwagon putting us down.
Sadly the real casualties of their comments were our younger generation. They were embarrassed to say they were from Dundalk. We had a good amount of "flight" from people who did not want to be identified with us because of the radio station and their comments. There is so much history in this area, all of us have always taken great pride in. Industry was the back bone of this community and from that Dundalk was developed. Hard work and a blue collar ethic drove this community and I believe to this day it still does. Nothing to be ashamed of there I have always felt. We have parks, waterfront, tons of activities for our children. Recreation and parks offer every kind of sport you can imagine. I welcome you and hope you become part of the fabric of our community and live here forever. |

When I first moved to Baltimore from St. Louis my first apartment choice was in Dundalk. My friends from this area told me not to move there and explained the horrible reputation it has, so I didn't. Now I've been there several times and it looks like a very nice place to live, but instead I'm stuck living just south of Parkville/Hamilton area paying $680/mo for a tiny one bedroom apartment surrounded my drug dealers, loud neighbors, and police chases. I should have lived in Dundalk. |
This is by far the most worse place I ever lived I moved here to be closer to my job and I never would have imagined to see a caucasion ghetto other than a trailre park. And everyone here do not have any teeth in their mouth everybody pop pills and on crack and it is infested with pedifiles and alcoholics this place is disgusting but at the same time I do thank GOD for having a roof over my head. The people here I do try my best to support are the Veterans and most of them are homeless.
You know in that sense our elected officials have dropped the ball. We have a higher concentration of pedophiles, homeless, alcoholics, drug addicts and SECTION 8 vouchers than any other area in the county or the state for that matter.
What to do about it - well come election time I think a clean house is in order. We need to rid our community of the political powers that be and get in some fresh blood with new ideas and back bones to give our community the jobs that once existed here. We cannot go on like this. Shamefully they have held office and gotten a paycheck for what? Making this poor community the dumping ground for the State of Maryland. About the teeth remark - I won't go there. Not everyone can afford dental insurance or FREE dental care that is given in some communities. On a positive note our churches do the best they can to assist Veterans and homeless people. I am sure all county services are overwhelmed during the recession due to so many people out of work. IDEA: Don't like it here move. If your not Section 8 yourself get out! |
Evidently they didn't have English teachers where you came from. I have all my teeth and the only pills I pop are aspirin. I am also a veteran and home owner. If you're looking for pedophiles, try congress. Now, if you find it so unpleasant here, leave. Otherwise, stop complaining and help to make things better. |
