extreme makeover ='s extreme mess

while I appreciate what they are doing for this person I don't think it is appropriate for this commerical production to close our road and monopolize our police and fire operations for their profit. I was forced to drive 10 miles out of the way to get home tonight. I am told this will last for 10 days. We were given no warning of this. This is not fair to the residents of the area. I hope Extreme Makeover is paying for the police presence and fire personnel. Its clearly a burden on this small community

I have to wonder if pa rural would feel the same way if it was her receiving the help! For crying out loud, can't you deal with a bit of an inconvenience when you look at this woman's situation? Where's your heart? Not fair to the residents? Was it fair that she lost her husband the way she did or that she's raising her daughter without him? Look at what she's been through and in spite of that she's been working to give back and raise her daughter. I think she's more than deserving of this and if it was my neighborhood, I'd be more than happy to drive 10 miles out of the way to make room for the team to do for her what should be done. It's called pay it forward...ever heard of it?

I'm happy to see Berks County being shown in a positive light. So often the local news is filled with the decay and turmoil in the City of Reading or the pathetic media surrounding the psuedo-celebrity, Kate Gosselin. Here we have a woman who had her whole life change in 24 hours. Tricia took her heartache and turned it into something positive for herself and her community. Berks County and the volunteers this next week will be very proud of what they will accomplish!

RE: Annoyed-
It has nothing to do with the woman- there was no need to close the roadways- get a grip! This program makes alot of money off these exploits- they can pay my cops and fireman - who barely get anything from the municipality without begging hat-in-hand.

I would not hesistate to help, that's what we do in this country, help when we can. When it's close to home, this gives us more incentive to help. If you are unable to give back just a litlle to someone, then you need to see a therapist.

To PA Rural-You are truly a heartless person. Get over it. I would gladly drive out of my way to get home in a situation like this. Who cares who is there doing the work? Be it non-profit or for profit this woman and her beautiful daughter deserve it and your discomfort and inconvenience for 10 days is NOTHING compared to her pain and despair over the death of her husband!!!!! I cannot believe how selfish you are and I certainly hope you never, ever have a tragedy like this in your life. Imagine if you did and people sat around on their computers and complained because the people helping you inconvenienced them. Think about someone else's feelings instead of your own and maybe you will be a happier person.

shame on all of you for either dissing the show and each other. When did this world get so selfish. No one's getting harmed for the help this woman deserves.

I feel very sad for this woman losing her husband and on the same day as her daughter was born is just unthinkable. I am glad she is receiving this makeover, she deserves it. Plus it is nice seeing our little town in the spot light for something more than a devistating fire. I wish her and her daughter the very best and I am sure her husband is watching from above and smiling at their dream finaly comming true.

The ad hominem comments about me are unwarranted. My concern was the lack of planning- this community already suffers as a result of the simultaneous closure of 2 bridges on main roadways.

The new house will be up for sale in a couple of months.
How else could they expect a single mom afford to pay taxes & upkeep on the half-million dollar mansion they're going to build for her.

The real story here is healthcare reform. Its' a crying shame her husband could not get the care he needed. Its incredible to believe that this happened in America-

It may have been weeks of suspense for WFMZ, but people in the area have known about it for awhile. Anti-climactic for alot of us.

People complaining about the road closures after enduring the State St. bridge being closed for the past 11 months (and not re-opening until this fall) should be used to being inconvenienced by now. This is for a good cause, so re-route your pathetic little life around someone else's moment to shine and try to help, not hinder. Your a typical Berks County Dutchman. I bet you're part of the complaining class of callers to WEE-Puke's feedback.
