Zuni school superintendent in hot water

The state wants to revoke the superintendent of Zuni Public Schools' teaching license.

She will fry, yet all the other examples in this state will continue until a Federal prosecutor gets involved. Sad.

Dr. Peery has obviously taken the advice of her attorney by denying all charges. The SUV’s purchased are Toyota Highlander hybrids, leather and fully loaded. How can you justify that purchase? One important question to ask is should she be allowed to work during an investigation that relies on the testimony of school district employees. Employees who legitimately fear retaliation from her? Teachers accused of inappropriate contact don’t go back to work until the investigation is complete. Why is there an exception for the superintendent?

I have seen several posts that have focused on Dr. Peery and her domestic partner while avoiding the main issue, which is the misuse of school money. Dr. Peery has subverted the school district’s funds for her own advantage at the expense of Zuni students. A tangible example is the three highlanders purchased for her exclusive use. A horrible realization is that a single Toyota highlander represents two years of income for many of the pueblo members.
Many teachers, parents and community members have been working to remove Dr. Peery for over two years. It has been a hard a fight and it is not over yet. Those that have chosen to stand up to her have stuck to what can be proved and supported. We have not done this by slandering Dr. Peery, engaging in sexism, bigotry, racism or by being homophobic. I don’t concur with posts that do.

I agree. The fact that she can use the districts money and get away with it makes me so angry. How does she sleep at night knowing everything that she has done to our children by taking away funding for school materials. She says the school board has cleared her from all allegations, that's crap. Only because the board is blinded by her corrupt ways. I hope the PED does revoke her license and keeps her from doing this to another school district. She has no shame.

Well it seems that after being run out of the maxwell schools for inappropriate behavior and suspicious activities, she has relocated and found a new place to tear apart. It seems that her behavior has not changed between incidents or cities. Will she ever be brought to justice or will she continue to be allowed to be a repeat offender?

If you can read this...thank a teacher, not an administrator. More often than not I see administrators abusing the school system, yet they are the ones making all of the big bucks. So why does the education system in this state stink? Give the money to the teachers and let them run the schools by some kind of group effort and fire all of these useless overpaid nut jobs.

No matter WHAT she is accused of she can't be 1/8th as bad as one of Zuni's former administrators. Floyd had the opportunity to hire one of Zuni's rejects Dr. L. Wayne McCullar. It's become common practice for the Educational Admins to feel entitled to graft.

Educate your kids as they were hired to do? WHY? It's so much easier to steal lie and cheat your way to success.

I thought that Lesbians, Gays, and Transgendered's were perfect, model citizens! What has happened, here? I know: If we'd legalized Gay Marriage, the Super wouldn't have gone down this horrible path! She feels that, "Society owes her," and thus, this is her way of leveling the playing field! Well, Gay or not, she's still corrupt and it looks as if the Zuni School Board needs to be cleaned up a little, too!

I was there in 93-94. That district was full of nepotism, cronyism, fraud, and incompetence then. Anyone remember Superintendent West who had a fraudulent certificate. Some of his old buddies still work there including Maura Stone, the sped director. She'd prowl the teacherage streets looking for a pickup for the evening. Nothing wrong with that I suppose. Just seems odd that she couldn't have gone to Gallup or Abq. for her sexual encounters. She's so ugly I never could figure out why anyone was interested in her anyway.

Anyone remember the days of the incompetent principal at Ashiwi, Barbara Gordon?

How about the Zuni High band director that got away with living with a 9th grader? Nothing was done about it. They were both Indians.

An endless list. So why is this any different? Different name. Different face. Same behavior.

Same thing goes on all over the Navajo Res. in their schools too.

That's the way indian schools are run.
