just so you know, the dodge charger you so speak of was funded by federal grant money. it has nothing to do with your so called tax dollars. and i assure you the money was not taken from the welfare program. so you can rest easy knowing that your welfare check will not reflect any deductions for the purchase of a much needed squad car. so quit your bitching and go buy some beer and cigarettes with your link card that i pay for with my tax dollars :)

FYI you need to leave the "I" off. Just where do you think "federal grant money" comes from, the grant money fairy? Federal $$$'s ARE our TAX $$$'s!

Yeah, this is exactly why there should be a prerequisite civics test given to anyone who wants a voter registration card.

I see the police cars at Burger King and McDonalds too. But you know what? When I see them there it is always between 7 and 8 AM, 12-1PM, and sometimes 11PM.
There are 3 shifts, and they ARE entitled to a lunch break like every other employed person in America. The problem is that when you are sitting at McDonalds during your lunch break, you don't have a car that looks different than everyone else's so nobody notices.
The other difference is that you probably don't have to get up before finishing your meal if some meth addict throws a brick through a window somewhere.

These guys do so much more than you realize.

I used to work in a telephone office, and the guy that took my job when I left said to me, " I am really surprised just how much work is involved keeping the office running...I didn't think you ever did anything."
It's because the only time he saw me was when I was out of the office having lunch. He didn't see what I did for the other 8 hours in the day.
Police work is the same thing. The paperwork alone is more than some people would ever want to be required to do. The local cops don't get paid nearly enough for what they do. They are the only thing that stands between you and the countless hoards of people who would cheat and steal everything you own. Law and order go hand in hand. Without law there is no order...only chaos.
And there is no law without law enforcement.
So maybe these people deserve a free cheeseburger....I don't know.

Fred, you are one of only a few people on here that show respect for any other people much less our policemen. I have been on our fire dept for 12 years and if I had listened to most of the people that write on here I would have quit years ago and let them have it. The policemen are my friends but I suppose if I was a "law breaker" I would talk about them like some others do on here. You will draw some "nasty" for what you said---and so will I. I would be happy to buy a free cheese burger any time.

taxpayer - you are correct that pare-k grant $ has been used on non-prek items ever since gary hill has been in charge. the teachers have received no supply $ for the years he has been there but in the Spring he takes all the leftover $ that he should've given to the classrooms and uses it on the k-8 programs. he is crooked and an audit needs to happen. and now that the pre-k programs are cut - county wide - to one classroom per district, tell me where all the $ is gonna go. The state needs to be more responsible with where their grant $ goes. they need to make the districts give it to the teachers to use on the childre. Isn't that what it's there for? It is illegal what has happened. It would just take an audit to see that. Ask any current or former pre-k teacher in county about the $25,000 in white copy paper that was purchased last year. Even an idiot would quickly see that there is no way a pre-k program could ever use that amount of paper. It was for the school districts and this is illegal. Grant $ can only be used for the program the grant is funding. i'm so glad he resigned at last week's board mtg but I believe that too much damage has been done. The county can never again go back to full-day pre-k classrooms which is a dis-service to the parents who both work and can't utilize a half day program. sad sad that our school boards allowed this man to do this over the last three years.

I just want to say I would much rather see our policemen driving new Dodge Chargers than some old piece of junk with to many miles on it and in need of repair. They deserve to have the best vehicles to get them to where they need to go quickly and safely! And also when I see them in a restaurant it makes me feel better about going in there. I guess some people think they should not even get to eat. They are under paid for what they do! They put their life on the line every time they go on duty and, No I am not a cop!
