Anna needs to prepare for the day when most traffic is routed away from Anna via the new 4 lane at East Cape Girardeau directly to interstate 57.The higher taxes go,fewer people will remain to pay.Anna government should make cutbacks NOW!!!If not, its future is as bleak as Cairos.

Home rule always means higher taxes. That is a fact. Communities should be able to manage with the revenue they have. If revenue declines, it means they should cut back, not ask for more money. The only reason bureaucrats seek home rule is to increase taxes. They will lie and tell you that it provides more control for local government. Ask them what they want that they can't accomplish without home rule. They will answer with double talk. They will also lie and tell you that you can charge taxes on goods and services that people from other communities come to Anna to buy so Anna residents get the benefit without the cost. All this does is drive business out of Anna. Vote no and make them live within their means like we all have to.

They can raise our property taxes now if they want. The voters need to get educated on the many benefits of home rule, like a 24 hour a day manned fire Dept, continued adequate staffed police Dept, we get a lot of people from nearby towns who shop at our businesses so the very minimal increase in sales tax will not push those people away and will benefit our town tremendously.

I agree with this. The real benefit of home rule is that it allows local communities to increase the sales tax.

They are only spending what they take in but as prices of everything goes up they will go under so they would have to raise property tax and that could cause everyone living in city limits hundreds where if home rule passes it would only be one penny on the dollar so think about what ur going to be paying if it don't pass

They are goin to get the money one way or another so u might as well take the cheaper route and vote it in cuz if not the citizens of Anna will have to pay a lot more in property tax cuz they will raise it

I can't see any reason how a man who makes triple digit money can justify driving a city owned vehicle to and from work. I really don't see the need in it.
