I have came to realize some people are just ignornant and will not accept change. I am white and married to a black man. We were both raised in Metter, Ga. and know alot of the people that reside there. We have been married for about 5 yrs. and have never been disrespected because of our interracial relationship, until today. I spoke with a lady on the phone about a house that she has for rent. I told her that we currently pay $200.00 more then what she is asking for her house, so it would not be a problem paying the rent. I also told her that we have an inside dog. She said that her last tenant had an inside dog and as long as he was housetrained it was fine. I went to meet her and she wanted to know where my husband was, I told her that we was working and could not meet today, she wanted to know why I did not call and reschedule because she wanted to know how he looked...?? I told her that I had a picture if she wanted to see it and she said yes, she would like to see it. So I showed her the picture and she just stood there and looked at me and said...hmmm. I asked if we could go in and see the house and she said sure. We stepped about 5 steps in the house and she turned and said "I cant rent to someone that has a dog." I was shocked because it was not an issue on the phone. I then told her that we would give the dog to my parents, to see what she would say. And she said "Well I already have several people looking to rent the house" and led me to the door telling me that I hoped we found something!!! I left there feeling belittled. When will people wake up and realize that it does not matter what color you are BUT what kind of person you are. We are a descent couple that would have taken care of her house. I hope that she rents to a white couple that tears the crap out of her house!

advise to you and your family is GOD don't like ugly and we are all his children. these people will have to give account for ALL of their racist ways. KEEP SMILING that way these people really don't know what to think then.

Thanks for all the supportive messages. I wrote this a few hours after meeting with the lady. I have no hard feelings toward her. Only God can judge! What I meant was if she will not rent to us and we would have taken care of her house, then it would teach her if someone she thought was "suitable" tore it up! I do not wish bad things on people!!!! As far as being immature, what do you thing name-calling is, Bubba. I can only hope that you DO NOT have children of your own!!

I dont think anyone owes me or my family anything. I work hard for what I have. I understand that it is her house and she can rent to whomever she chooses. But, it's a shame that she did not want to rent to us because of such a stupid reason! All is well now we decided to buy a house! Realist, get real before you pass judgment on me. You do not know one thing about me. I do not want people to feel sorry for me with my "sad" story. What is really sad, is people go thru life hating other people....for no real reason at all!

I'm sorry that this stupid nonsense happened to you. It is as silly as deciding that they will not rent to you because they don't like the size of your feet. I'm also curious about something else. Does this woman claim to be Christian and go to church? Has she read what I John 4:20 says about people who claim to love God but hate their neighbor? If she hasn't read this verse, then she needs to do it as soon as possible because it is very interesting.

I haven't done anything to hurt anyone in Metter,GA and I simply have a more educated opinion than some of the morons on this website. There is no reason to dislike me unless you are a bigoted inbred redneck who hates everyone. You don't even need me on this website to make your town look very backwards because the people who live in your town make Metter look horrible because of the ignorant trash that they write. Why do people in your town hate everyone who is different from you? I'll admit that I wanted to give the people of your town a chance to be viewed as nice normal people because I have relatives who live in Metter but there is a big problem. The idiots on this website have confirmed every single negative stereotype that I have ever had about small towns. If Metter ever becomes a ghost town, then I will be laughing about it because there are very few logical reasons to want to live there.
