For more than three long, overheated hours Saturday morning, a somber group gathered in Coatesville to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the last lynching in Pennsylvania, and to discuss the legacy of the white police officer and black steel-mill worker whose lives ended in a conflagration that smolders still.

This looks like it was just an opportunity to sell books.

How dare those people at Lukens host such a despicable meeting in their office buildings, the very heart of the town.

I hope the people who live in Coatesville are bigger and better than to let this cause animosity in the community. In the past years I've watched them come together and rise above old grudges, and I hope they will continue in that vein.
