The most recent report said a visit by grand jurors in late September revealed that the prison, designed to hold 2,200 inmates, housed 5,191 inmates -- including some in a gymnasium.
In addition, the Coalinga Regional Medical Center still does not have a secure medical wing for prisoners. Therefore, when inmates require hospitalization, they are driven a hour away to the Bakersfield Community Medical Center, where the prison contracts for 20 beds. On top of that Valley Fever! More needs to be done to properly address those dangers! |

What they need to do is contract a helicopter to fly the seriously ill or life threating situations inmates. They are still human beings and Americans. If an inmate is an a life threating situation driving an hour to bakersfield Hospital 90% chance they will end up D.O.A. (Dead On Arrival) What is this prison system leading to. Mistreatmnet and no medical facilitys. Sounds like some B.S. Hitler would be pulling if he was still alve. People in the state of Ca. wake up and look at what they are doing to our children, are familys. Prisoners they are but they are still are love ones. We all make mistakes. So do Police officals and prison guards make mistakes and end up in prison. What goes around comes around. God forgives all sins and he without sin cast the first stone.

You are 100% RIGHT on what you said. They need to do alot more for our loved ones at that hell hole they call a prison. My husband was moved to that place they call a prison In october, placed on a yard there and had been lockdown for eight months before they finally came off. Then attacked for an issue that went down long before he ever arrived there. He has told me in our 1 hour visits from Ad seg, that the valley fever and treatment or lack of medical treatment for any inmate hurt or suffering from that, let alone families they put in jeopardy who go there to visit is appaling to me. What the hell is that so called Governor doing for anyone in Sacramento. He steals money from kids for schools, cuts medical insurance, and then doesnt follow the instructions to release people over a year ago due to overcrowding conditions. how would he like to be stuck in a gym three bunks high, where tensions are already high. then there is no air, they refuse to filter their air properly there and wonder why they get sick with that nasty valley fever. PVSP ought to be the FIRST prison they close down. Get our loved ones from Northern California to a prison closer to home where it doesn't take three hours to drive there and then have to wait to visit because they are too lazy to process faster. That place is a joke, |

i spent a year and a half building the coalinga state hospital. i think it should be more secure for these dysfunctional citizens of our society. this idiot who believes they are human being is on the wrong track. they had the same chance as i do.....to follow the rules, pay taxes, buy a home..but they choose a life of crime. therefore they gave of the rights of human being. let them all rot..they out to gas all prisioner and that would solve the problem of overcrowding.

Well I know that these guys are humans but they put themselves there for the crimes they comitted and act like they are the victims when the shit doesn't go there way. They are just irresponible men who need to be supervised and babysat cause they have no clue about living a straight and honest life, and for those of you who think your loved ones in there are the victims are getting the wool pulled way over your eyes and are just being brainwashed for your time and money, I know from experience that they are manipulative and use people for everything they have, if your husband is in there o guarantee you are not the only one that visits him 9 out of every 10 of those guys have females in the side regaurdless of what any of you believe spreading diseases and that's the god honest truth

I live and work in Coalinga. The prison system is a joke. Here is an example of it works at our local hospital: my two-year-old daughter fell off a high structure in the park and was hurt. We took her to our medical facility so she could see a doctor and receive an exray. Just before the doctor was going to give my baby her exray, an inmate from the prison came in with two guards. The prisoners get first priority, so my two-year-old had to wait while this prisoner was seen first, eventhough she had been waiting one hour.
Similar stories have been repeated by almost all who live in Coalinga. For anyone who doesn't believe me, just come here and go to the emergency room to see for yourself. The "poor" prisoners have better health care than most honest citizens I know. You want proof? Ok, we go to the same hospital and have the same doctors as the prisoners, but we have to wait for them, and we have to pay for our services. |

What Coalingacitizen is saying is true. I worked in the the medical departments of two CDC prisons over the course of 27 years, and I can attest that these prisoners get better medical care than people outside the walls. However, the liberal federal courts don't think so and tried to have the citizens of California fork up another 8 billion for even BETTER medical care. LOL.
Also, when an inmate is transferred to a hospital "downtown" that prisoner gets first priority ahead of everyone else. The reason for that is twofold. One is security and the other is the fact that these correctional facilities have fat contracts with these "downtown" hospitals. I'll let y'all figure out the rest. |

Many seem to be judging all of the prisoners as worthy of being deathly ill. Has any one of you read up on this epidemic? I have heard of people suffering terribly for months and even some have died.
