A Tamaqua woman was injured in a two-vehicle crash early Tuesday morning in Tamaqua.

Zalane Kunkel, 30, was operating a white Kia in the unit block of Spruce Street at 2:06 a.m. when she apparently fell asleep. The Kia drifted into the other lane and struck a red Kenworth tractor. Damage to the rig was moderate while the Kia sustained heavy front end damage.

Kunkel complained of chest pain and was transported to a Pottsville hospital in the Tamaqua Community Ambulance. The Kia was towed from the scene.

What no citations? Hope there is more going into the investigation, extremly hard to believe she fell asleep that fast after crossing 3 set of poorly maintained railroad tracks, which are known to blow a tire on occasions. Must be related to the reporter for the times news.

If you know of a problem, putting on a comedy routine ain't gonna get you much more than a few laughs. I agree, what happened deserves a citation at the very least. If it happened to me, I am sure the police would not go so easy on me, but hopefully, they wouldn't go for my jugular either. We don't yet know what is going to happen, so all we can do at this point... is hope she will not get favored treatment.
Listing personal information about this individual is not helpful.
Also, how do you know the (alleged) drug dealer really is a dealer, and do the police know? If so, are you sure they are ignoring this person?

First how do you know she is on cocaine or other drugs? Do you have first hand knowledge cause you do them too. Maybe your upset cause you got caught and she didn't. I'm sure the police did their investigation and came to a fair and just conclusion for the accident. I feel that the police in that town do a good job, and they try to be fair to the residence that live there. In closeing, yes this is a forum but before you put your thoughts into the forum and hit post, read what your writting and ask yourself one question: Would I want people to surmise what I'm saying as the truth but if you really want the truth, then ask the person you are about to judge!!!!

tamaqua cops didn't want to have her tested for dui drugs/alcohol because they don't want to have to go to court later. if they are working at 2am then they sleep during the day, so they would have their beauty rest disturbed if they have to go to court.
if she went to the hospital for chest pain the doctor would want to do blood tests. maybe one of you doubters would like to request her medical records?
btw...now she owes the cops. this means they can press her for favors/information. it's all a game.

I hope that is not the case. If they left her go over loosing their beauty sleep, it is wrong. Something like this is just telling people to wait till after midnight to do anything. Not only that if there worried about loosing sleep get a new job then. I work night shift and still attend meetings and confrences during the day on all occasions, worked night before, night of, or even during schedualed time off, its called welcome to the real world. As far as blood test unless the doctors are told that the tests are ordered they will not be done, and it is also possible that the doctor forget the exact reason why she is there and forgot to do the work. Yes that does happen as I experenced it first hand, I went to the hospital with a work injury was taken into surgery and released without the standard drug test in which I ended up fighting with the insurance company over since the test wasn't done and almost had to pay the bill myself.

No one really belives this line, do they? So we have never prosecuted anyone who has been stopped for any offense that occurs after midnight?
Most of the DUI's happen in the wee hours of the morning, and the papers are filled with the results of the arresting officers testimonies and the subsequent sentences meted out for these crimes.
Try to use your heads before spewing out these opinions. A little reality based thinking goes a long way.

not to take any sides here but most of the people that i know of and hear of that got dui's never contested them not needing anything more from the cops then a statement on paper. which could be the reason for it plus most of the dui's is this area are mainly given out by the sherrif during a check point.

I think everyone has a good reason to press on for answers. Ignoring a potential problem could mean there have been selective arrests (which is not fair)(and no, I did not say this is happening) and/or other internal problems that should be addressed.

On the other hand, I do not want our cops out harassing people. If their general tendency has been to ...give any and all people a break (not just their friends) I'm okay with it. Completely on their side.
Also, the number of arrests a cop makes does NOT say he's doing a good job. All it says is he got an arrest (big whoop). Likewise, a cop with very few arrests in not necessarily lazy or reneging on his duties.
