Nathan Bowman freefalls over 500 feet...and LIVES! Am I the only one who thinks this is amazing? Who is this guy? Has he ever had any other brushes with death? Did he bolt out into a busy street when he was a toddler and one of his parents' grabbed him? And then maybe they forgot about it? This guy needs to decide what to do with his life. NOW! He has an opportunity. He needs to set rediculously high goals for himself. He needs to leave Tamaqua. This guy could have a future...if he acts on it! Granted, he's only 23 and may not be too terribly smart at that young age. So he needs to get smart. Or at least pretend like he is until he learns what he needs to know. Find books written by smart people and read them and imitate them.

Nathan...if you're reading this, do not waste this opportunity. Get yourself well and then go. You've been given a gift. Jump on it!

"A man who on Friday night fell hundreds of feet into a strip mine pit in Coaldale was pushed by a friend with whom he had argued about what path to take, police say."

Pushed into a pit over an argument about what path to take? That's insane. Does the guy who pushed him have any brain function whatsoever?

Give new meaning to the phrase: Have a nice trip. Also, it sounds like something is missing in this story.

"State police ... called off the search at daybreak, authorities have said.

A short time later, an employee with the Lehigh Coal and Navigation Co., which owns the Springdale Pit, and Coaldale police went back to the spot where Bowman was believed to have fallen and heard him yelling for help."

I don't know what's scarier; the fact that this moron pushed someone into a coal pit because they couldn't agree on which way to go or the fact that the state police gave up looking for the guy because it got dark. It's a good thing the employee and the local police went back to the pit. Who knows how this would have turned out if he would have had to spend a night in the pit?

Lessons learned:

1. Don't stand next to a coal pit while arguing with a friend over directions.

2. If you need help from the State Police, make sure it's not dark or that it won't be getting dark anytime soon.

Wow, "Sissy", you showed him! Guess what, genius? Your IP address doesn't always match your physical address. For example, you can live in one city and your IP address may show up as a different city, or even different state.
