Yeah I agree, As a child of two parents that smokes, it don't bug me. But these kids is going to get it. They must remember that Pike Co. has more older people then young so. Plus I give a year before some or all the bussiness lost alot of customers over this.

I was a smoker for about 28 years. I stopped smoking almost nine years ago. I can not stand to smell cigarette smoke and it takes my breath away. People who do not smoke really do suffer being around others who do. I think we all should be more considerate of each others feelings.

I am glad there is a smoking ban in Pikeville restaraunts...such as Applebees now...I am a non-smoker and do not particularly care if people choose to pollute their bodies...but I do care if they cause harm to me...which is what happens from smoke exposure...if you want to smoke do it at your own home!

i am a smoker. i have smoked since i was in the 7th grade. i am 29 now and i think it should be ok to smoke in restaraunts. every one of them should have a smoking and non-smoking section. i dont think its fair we should have to quit smoking just because some people think it smells bad or whatever. thats just like telling someone they cant eat a certain food because you dont like it no matter how much they enjoy it. just my opinion.

So another stupid smoking ban. Cigarettes kill. So do cars, I see we don't have ban on them. Car's produce more fumes then cigarettes. What about coal trucks? Who hasn't been behind a truck belching smoke. oops we need the cars and trucks to get around and coal for power. I thought this was a FREE country! If they can ban smoking, what else is next. I see that these kids have a real future in politics. They always love to tell the average citizen what they can and cannot do.

My late great-grandfather smoked a pipe everyday since his 20s, his secretary on the other hand never smoked a day in her life. Who do you think died of lung cancer? Lung Cancer killed her, how you ask? From breathing in his smoke. Every year over 400,000 people die from smoking related illnesses, it's a fact that 642 Kentuckians who die from smoking-related illnesses each month. I was part of a group that traveled to Frankfort a few months ago to lay 642 pairs of shoes on the capitol steps to draw attention to this fact. And I can't help but wonder, how many smokers actually know what is in those cigarettes they light up? The stuff that is also in second hand smoke, which non smokers breath in. Well let's see, Ammonia--you clean your toilet with this. Acetone--nail polish remover. Arsenic--this is rat poison. Formaldehyde--used to preserve dead things. Tar-used to seal roofs and pave roads, the average smoker ingests a quart of this a year. That just some of the chemicals. As for those who say that there is a non-smoking section at places, theres no such thing. That's like having a peeing and a non-peeing section in a pool. Would you want to swim in pool like that? Not me. One in every five deaths are from a smoking related illness, such as cancer (of the mouth, throat, bladder, pancreas and kidney) and one in every three people will die from a smoking related illness. I'll end this by saying that smoking is the leading preventable cause of death in the USA.

blah blah blah, to smoke or not to smoke that is the question. i do as i please and if someone does not like it, leave. The smell of shrimp makes me gag, is it right to tell you that you cannot eat shrimp because it makes me sick? No. What do I do? move tables. If I die from chocking on the vomit induced by the smell of your shrimp who's fault is it? Mine for not moving.

I personally agree with what used to be known as constitutional rights. My dad was a coal miner for years;old timer we could say.My dad god rest his soul died Oct.of 2008 of full blown lung cancer;he was only 59 years old would have been 60 March of this year.My point is was it smoking cigarettes or was it breathing in all that coal dust.I believe as long as I am outdoors smoking it shouldn't be a crime.I appreciate what the young people of our area are doing;but you should also know that going into these mines and breathing that shit is just as bad if not worse.

I love this:

"Having a smoking section in a restaurant is like having a peeing section in a swimming pool."

And that's true. It's called diffusion, where a substance spreads from an area of higher concentration to an area of lower concentration.

If there's a smoking section in a restaurant, the smoke is thicker in that section, right? But then it spreads to the areas surrounding it. There is no way to prevent this from happening other than completely closing off the two sections.

I choose not to smoke because 1. Its unhealthy. 2. It stinks. 3. It makes you and your clothes, car, house, everything stink to non-smokers.

If you want to pollute your body and smell, please don't force that on me. Do I want you to have to go outside when its 20 degrees outside? No, I think they should build you a section to the side of the restaurant that's sheltered from the weather so you're not freezing to death while you're slowly killing yourself.

Smelling of someone's dinner is not the same as inhaling second hand smoke.

Sure, the shrimp might make you sick to your stomach, but that's a little different than lung cancer.

you know i can see your point.I am a smoker,as you once were.now you are not and you are against it now.well do you drink,if so that is one thing i can't stand is a drunk in my face trying to talk to me,spitting, sluring their words,or hitting you head on,because they are drunk.chewing,is something else that I think is nasty, now that is just me.I am not trying to tell people they can't chew.just trying to make a point.it is everybody right to smoke, chew,or drink
as long as they leave me alone.why are you all trying to get in other peoples business.if they really don't want us to smoke quit selling the things.they sell them to us,then tell us we can't smoke anywhere.tobacco is the number one cash crop in this state.the big wigs want to smoke their cigars but restrict us who smoke cigarettes,
this is stupid.I think if you do away with cigarettes,do away with it all.

I too am a smoker, but it really bothers me when people smoke when I'm trying to eat. I don't believe those of us that do smoke should invringe on the rigths of those who don't. I don't smoke in public places out of courtesy.
