<quoted text>they will be forgiven of their sins if they ask for it. and they can enter the kingdom of heaven just the same as you and I. Jesus never said I wont forgive this sin or that sin. he died so that all sins could be forgiven.

that's where the hypocrisy gets exposed. Live a good life, help other, do no evil but if you don't believe in him you cant enter.
be a sinner all your life and ask for forgiveness and your in.

it was pretty simple when it started 2000 plus years later and 'man ' thinks its different to suit what they think is right.

every day I hear people say this person or that person will rot in hell, as if they get to decide.
Again, you're not wrong. But I didn't say their sins wouldn't be forgiven. That is between them and God. My statement had more to do with what goes around comes around on earth. When a pedophile is put in the general population of a prison, most of the time they get similar experiences as the victim.

Where are you getting your statistics? Or is this just your opinion?

they are all opinions.
and by the way church lady. remember Richard Speck?
He seemed to enjoy his stay in prison being a queen bee as they call them.
try not to add your emotion into the thought process.
That's where things get confused and mixed up.
It is very hard to do. after all we are just humans

Right on man. People are always saying stuff like it is a proven fact. I would love to live in a world where good always triumphs over bad. Unfortunately thats just not how it is.

Yup. I recall Speck. I don't believe he enjoyed his queen bee status though. If he did, he would have claimed that status before prison. He did that for survival. And he was a complete deviant.

My whole point is that it's not God covering up for the pedophiles. Whether you believe in God or not, it's important to note that organized church as we know it today is organized by man. Those in the church who've committed such heinous crimes against children will be destined to answer for it either by the state, by God (if you believe), by the victims, by the victims families, or by their own families, or by kharma if that's what a person believes.

I didn't state a statistic. I wrote in very general terms.

later as we all know they turned out to be fact because we learned how to see them.
don't be so sure of something you don't actually know as fact.
the jury is still out on this one.

I cant rule out "intelligent design" and doubt you can provide facts against it
Agreed.

Yes, the "church is organized by man". And religion was developed by man. And god was created by man.

And yes, I can provide facts against intelligent design. Delve into human anatomy and see how unintelligently designed we are. Check out the ovary-fallopian tube gap or the recurrent laryngeal nerve, for example.

Plus, those making an extraordinary claim are required by logic to provide evidence of such. So those who believe in a creator should present evidence, not those who do not.

When people say "prove to me there's a God" my favorite response is "prove to me there's NOT."

No matter our belief systems there are many who have been hurt and endangered by leaders within the church.

Church Lady, your "favorite response" is logically flawed. When thinking critically about a subject, the one who puts forth the extraordinary claim must provide extraordinary proof. Your claim of a god (probably all-powerful and all-seeing and all that, right?) is certainly extraordinary.

I do appreciate the respectful tone throughout this discussion. Respect is rare on Topix. And I respect religion because, for some people, religion encourages them to do good, kind things for other people. I happen to feel that the supernatural aspects are unneeded however.
