Now when they can't afford to pay for the transportation service to the schools we can get rid of the bus service to save on the budget .

Must be tough the unions are going after part time bus drivers how does that pay and benefit package figure. Work 2 for 8 hours of pay.

That's a good thing.... I'm sure they will make a fare wage... I bet some where in $20-25 range. Hey alot of this town is union and it would not be where it is without the unions.... Without unions the little guy gets beat up

Not good if your the one that has to start paying it. It's a PART TIME JOB are any of them working an 8 hour day, now the cost of the drivers will at least double by the time you add in benefits where does that come from. An ever shrinking tax base and the city can't afford police.

First off I would like to say... I am not a bus driver and I do not have kids. My question to you what is a fair wage? How much do you think it takes to live these days? If they make $15 an hour and they work say... 25 hours a week after taxes they bring home right around 262 bux a week. What kinda bus driver do you think you are going to get for that kinda money a week for 9 months a year? Would you want your kids safety in the hands of that driver?

It's still a PART TIME JOB what do these professional drivers do when they are off. the bottom line if they are not happy with what they make get a full time job and work 40 hours a week . Everyone wants to get payed more to do less. Union did a lot for the police now the City can't afford to pay for there benefits and wages.

I'm not sure what hours are involved with the job. I could see how it could be an eight hour day ..... I could also see how it could be less..... Anyone know what kind of hours the drivers work?
you have NO clue

why at you picking on the police union. It's not the union that has caused the police to possibly leave as a whole unit. It's the crap assed structure of coal city's business district We basically have very little taxable worth from nothing larger than a pizza joint or a bar around this town How many empty store fronts are here. Com-Ed's tax money has went down and that was a major factor when money isn't coming in. Don't blame someone's union for a shit assed infrastructure

The cost for police has gone up since the union got involved not picking on the union just the fact is that the cost for the same service is now higher because of it. So what is going to happen when the bus drivers become union and cost is doubled for the same service that is already being provided for this service with the same drivers that are already there but somehow because they join the union it's better . Give them more money if they need it but union benefits and dues a lot more than the 20 to 25 an hour that was mentioned. I got the clue been on both sides as an employer and a member seen it from both sides of the fence.

I'm not for sure what your career is or what what you make a year. Do working men and women not deserve a decent pension and wage and health care? Are you this upset when you hear how much the politicians healthcare salary and pension plans cost taxpayers? 210,000 i think is not a whole lot more than most of our politicians are making in Springfield and Washington not including their healthcare for life and pensions! They don't do shit for working people at least the police are on the streets working for the people.

Do people deserve a decent wage or should they earn it. Lot's of people don't deserve what they are paid but they get it because of a union. Think about how many you know that are in a union and are useless but they still get paid.

I might ad they get paid on the backs of those that do earn what they are worth.

If you think about it I bet they work eight hour days. I figure they have to be at the bus barn around 5 am... They have do a walk around and inspect the bus everyday they get the kids to school at 7 or so get the bus out if the schools by 7:30 maybe later. Means they have the bus parked and are done around 8:30-9 .... Just to have to be back to do it all over again at 1 or 1:30.... And not to mention if they drive the sports teams at night

yes you are right unions makes it possible for a lot of worthless men and women to hold jobs. Unfortunately that is also true in most other professions. There is always someone's son, daughter, cousin, etc. that has a job because who they are or know. There are alot of working men and women union or non that deserve every cent they make! Yes they should earn their compensation not be entitled to it. Don't know why people are against union members sticking together fighting for decent wage, pension, healthcare, and working conditions. To try to make a better life for themselves and their families!

who your taxes are going to go up no matter If your making 10.00 hr or 50.00 hr would rather see it go to working men and women than to line the pockets of the rich or politicians!!!! You must be retired or a business owner is all I can figure or was never had the opportunity to be a union member and earn a decent wage!
