When is the city going to buy new street pole decorations? The ones they put up each year must be from the dinosaur era! If they can afford a fake town zoo and a pavilion no one will use on such a busy street, why not spend our tax dollars on something to make the town look have way decent at least for the holidays. It would sure be nice if there were some shops in town to visit after the parade too! How about an ice skating rink in the city park?

The city doesn't own or put the decorations up, the Lions Club does. Your tax money doesn't pay for those. The Lions Club volunteers along with a couple city workers donate their time on Thanksgiving morning to put them up. They use the money they raise throughout the year to buy new ones. They are very expensive and the club tries to buy a couple new ones each year.
maybe so

your tax dollars do pay for the decorations and the city workers do put them up. The city got 8 new decorations this year. The each run 300.00 to 500.00.

Don't know what town you are talking about but in Braidwood it's not the city workers on city time... it's the Lions Club on Thanksgiving morning.

You people are a joke. Kudos to the Lion's club and boo city. Wonder where or who your working for. The City decorates up town and that sucks but when you thought the decorations were City owned they stucked too. Hey guess what if you don't like the City MOVE. No one is forcing you to live here or better yet shut the hell up and get out and help. The Lions do a great job, the park district does a great job, Wayne Saltzman's does a great job with the food pantry, the Chamber does a great job. But guess what...this town has about fifty some workers and a council that do a great job too. You may not agree with everything everyone does, but instead of always slamming everything give credit where it is due. Most of the people that work for the City live in it too. Maybe they should go into where you work and bad mouth you to your employeer with no real evidence that you suck at your job other than they like someone else better then you. So Merry Christmas to you all, I hope you all get the karma you deserve.

I agree with kudos to the Lions, Park District. They are the ones who purchase and put the decorations on Main St. They are also the majority of people who help with the food pantry. The Chamber is finally starting to get more involved in community events along with the library. You think the city can turn the street light decorations on at night. The so called welcome center is decorated better than Main Street. If it wasn't for these groups this town would be nothing.
