It's true. Opening in the spring of 2013. Store size is going to be 200,000 square feet. From what I have been told, permits have started being issued. The store will employ approximately 400 people.

Rumor... I have yet to see anything official. Nobody and I mean nobody has proven this. It is a rumor. There may or may not be some truth to it but so far the only thing we get is people, the same people, saying yes it's true. But they never have any proof and they get angry when you ask for it. I just went through the Coal City website looking for information. And through the minutes of their meetings as well as through the minutes from the zoning meetings which are public record, and posted online.... NOTHING! No mention of it.

it will be in Diamond. People who think it will be in Coal City don't know what they are talking about. I too have heard it is opening early in 2013. We need a high quality store in the area. Ultra has top quality, and low prices. We need cheaper beer prices around here. Ultra in Joliet sells Busch light for$8.99. Milk is less than a buck, and they carry all your groceries out to your car, just like Walmart. Hope they have a gas station too! Gas is to high around here. Will they have a pharmacy? I would rather not have to go to the new Walgreens that is going to be next to ultra. I can't believe that diamond is getting an ultra, Walgreens , and Menards all on the same year!!!

Well I was actually responding to a Coal City Topix post and the rumor wasn't Diamond it was Coal City.... However, there's no proof that it will be in Diamond either. We've been hearing that a Target and a Jewel, are coming to Diamond and it never happened. In fact that wes big news. And now you expect us to believe a rumor that Ultra Foods and Walgreens are coming. Well I'm not sure it's not, but I searched and I can't find any solid information, no news story, nothing but "I heard" stories floating around with nothing to substantiate them. The main reason I don't believe it is because the area isn't big enough or growing fast enough to support it. Another point is, Ultra Foods isn't known for building new buildings, but occupying vacant buildings. And they are always located in a heavily populated, low income area. Low income we have, heavily populated we don't. It all seems like large aspirations for a struggling podunk to me. I may be wrong but time will tell.
