What a joke the toilet bowel of tri county coal city. You should have a berkots in your town. To go along with all the village board members that are ripping you off. And now your library thinks they can do the same. Coal city people keep up the good work you are making wilmington a nicer place.

I have stop shopping there myself. The girls they have there have no clue of what's going on. Its a joke and trin to ask somebody where something is at forget it. And for this so called blizzard it wasnt that bad and everybody else had their park lot cleared. It just must have been really bad at that one store.
Hear's a clue for you.. If we're wearing a g-damn deli coat, we work in the f*cking deli, not the rest of the store. We don't have time to help you find your shaving cream, listen to you bitch about the fact that Berkots doesn't carry your favorite kind of chips, or walk you to the bathroom. If you're shopping in the smaller towns then here's some advice: it's a small ass store, walk up and down the isles and find it your damn self, or find someone who's not wearing a visor PLEASE AND THANK-YOU.

Berkot's is a great store. It's the rude cashiers that make the store so unpleasant. I will wait 15 minutes for certain cashiers because they are gems. Good at their job, friendly and pleasant EVERY time you go through their line. Other's hate their lives and take it out on Joe public.
Kind of like the one cashier who was talking to the lady in front of me bitching because they want her to work and if she works more than 10 hours a week they will take away her food stamps and public aide. But her husband who has been off work for a few years prefers food stamps so she might quit. WTF! Are tax dollars hard at work

Berkots in Wilmington sucks...everytime I've been there is been around 5-8pm and there's only one cashier that scans & bags herself with usually 10 people waiting in a line. Don't buy ice cream from there because it will melt by the time it gets put in a bag, but then again...your usually lined up down the ice cream isle, so u could grab it when its finally time to checkout. The 1 and only cashier is usually in a bad mood because she's the only one actually "working". They need 2 cashiers with 2 people bagging. They make enough profit from each overpriced item to pay for a full staff.

Nobody wants to work there cuz they only hire part time. Then they dont even give employees a 20 hrs every week. Who can afford to have a crappy job like that? Answer: people that either dont really need the job, or ppl that r desperate and will take anything. Thats why all the employees are crab asses. Overall Berkots is a crappy place to shop and a crappy place to work for. Its places like that which r hurting todays ecomony. They overcharge customers, underpay employees, all the while the rich get richer and the poor get poorer.

The 20 hours is not Berkots fault. Any employee over 25 hours under Obamacare has to be offered benefits if the employer has more than 50 employees. I know this was set back to Jan 1 2015, but still employers are preparing for this and enacting this now. Thanks, a plan to give more people health insurance will throw 10 plus million below the poverty line and raise unemployment by 8 to10 percent. Good job.

Um... Dont u think that the working man deserves health care? I do. I dont want the ppl that cook my food, or change my oil, or bag my groceries to get sick and die. Do u really expect me to believe that offering health care to their loyal employees would bankrupt berkots? U got to be kidding right. That is exactly the problem. Greed. The rich get richer and the poor get poorer. The world is always going to need ppl to do the hard work or less desirable jobs. Im not saying that ppl working at berkots need to be rich, but they do deserve to be treated fairly.

On top of all that who the hell could afford health care on a minimum wage job at 25 hrs? Even 40 hrs. Its a joke. They can afford health care but then wont be able to pay their bills. Its my opinion that if u get up and go to work everyday and are a productive member if society u should be treated decent. If u dint participate in society and work then u can go rot in the damn woods.

Um, by arguing with me you supported my statement. I agree it is a joke, 20 hours of pay a week cannot put food, a roof above their head plus mandatory healthcare.

I explained it in my initial comment. Berkots has more than 50 employees, the affordable care act provision which was set to go into effect Jan 1 2014 stated that any employee working over 25 hours for a company with 50 or more employees MUST be offered Heath insurance by their employer. If an employee goes over the 25 hours and is not offered insurance the company can be fined $2000 per employee per occurrence. The provision to the act was delayed until Jan 1 2015 so employers can get their staffing in order. Most employers are using the Jan 1 2014 as a benchmark for doing a "dry run" to ensure they have their system working properly for the mandatory Jan 1 2015 launch. Most employers are capping their part time workers at 18 scheduled hours to give more scheduling flexibility, ie the need for an employee to cover another shift, or possibly having to work late still not exceeding the 25 hour cap. I know a lot of people in the retail workforce and 20 hours part time now seems to be the industry standard. Berkots is just following the provisions of the new law before it takes effect to ensure they are in compliance.

That makes me sick to see people putting so much thought into avoiding providing health insurance. This is going to make the situation worse, not better. The more peeople you employ the more it costs in workers comp insurance so why not do the right thing and offer insurance desperately? If they have no health care and are sick they wont show up for work
