Following a recent fender bender, I was told that the printer in the squad car wasn't working and that they would mail me a copy of the accident report. What I received from the Sheriff's Office was a Driver Information Exchange Form which states on the bottom of the form "Copies of IL Crash Reports may be obtained by sending a check or money order for $5 per copy made payable to Grundy County Sheriff, Att: Crash Unit, 111 East Illinois Ave, Morris, IL, 60450." So now after paying their salaries and benefits along with their retirement pensions, we have to pay them to do their jobs too? This is getting crazy people!! It is apparent that we need to clean house and replace everyone we can in the Sheriff's Office.

Well then you better replace every town/sheriff's office in the state because that is common practice.

The driver information exchange form is all you need anyways to file an insurance claim.

If that is the case, then why didn't the gal in the Sheriff's Office tell us that? She didn't! Perhaps she is the only one that needs to go. Could be an attitude problem after a new State's Attorney was elected!

In all fairness she probably didn't know any better. U must have paid for the official copy of the accident report instead of just your document that is given free of charge to drivers involved in an accident.
