Same can be said about automobiles.

Odds are you won't have a house fire either. Dopes that mean a fire extinguisher doesn't exist in your home?
<quoted text>
Oh really? Do you have a credible cite for that? Is that why more people are killed and injured with automobiles?
Is that why insurance for autos is so much higher for the 16-25 age group?

Sheeesh. Are you a big fan of prior restraint? Does the concept of rights and liberties bother you? Does the presumption of innocence matter?
<quoted text>How about over 1 million annual defensive gun uses factor in?

There are approximately two million defensive gun uses (DGU's) per year by law abiding citizens. That was one of the findings in a national survey conducted by Gary Kleck, a Florida State University criminologist in 1993. Prior to Dr. Kleck's survey, thirteen other surveys indicated a range of between 800,000 to 2.5 million DGU's annually. However these surveys each had their flaws which prompted Dr. Kleck to conduct his own study specifically tailored to estimate the number of DGU's annually.
Subsequent to Kleck's study, the Department of Justice sponsored a survey in 1994 titled, Guns in America: National Survey on Private Ownership and Use of Firearms (text, PDF). Using a smaller sample size than Kleck's, this survey estimated 1.5 million DGU's annually.
There is one study, the National Crime Victimization Survey (NCVS), which in 1993, estimated 108,000 DGU's annually. Why the huge discrepancy between this survey and fourteen others?
I acknowledge that your side of the argument makes good points. I was simply trying to view the issue from all sides. If you want to argue you will have to engage the other guy who wants to argue the size of your pecker.

If concealed carry was so dangerous then why is Illinois the only state that doesn't allow it? All 49 states have a form of concealed carry. You dont see any of em looking like the Wild West or trying to outlaw concealed carry. Chicago is the perfect example of why banning guns doesn't reduce crime. They banned handguns for 28 years yet there are shootings daily but wait handguns were illegal how can that be? All concealed carry does is give a law abiding citizen a fighting chance against a violent criminal. Yeah the bad guy might get the jump on you but you would at least have a chance to survive if your carrying a gun. It's a proven fact criminals already carry guns illegally. I for one don't like being forced to bring a knife to a gun fight. I hope I will never have to use a gun against another person but I would like to be able to defend myself and my family if the situation ever arised. Guns aren't dangerous, people are. I can leave a loaded gun on my kitchen table and nothing will ever happen until a person touches it and pulls the trigger. It's just a tool. It takes a person to make an inanimate object dangerous. Someone mentioned leaving a gun in your car while being in the bar drinking. You can do that now, you can legally keep a gun in your car. If you've ever traveled to any other state you were prob surrounded by people carrying a gun legally and you prob had no idea or felt unsafe. The people you need to worry about carrying guns already are.

Because the Black Liberals in charge think criminals are innocent and law abiding citizens are dangerous.
