Instead of the billboards saying "Welcome to Pennsyvlania" they should say "Welcome to Fast Eddie's Casino".

The state is looking for all kind of different ways for money. They should have been trying to save people good paying jobs over the years and the state would not be in this situation.

I agree with the comment that the machines are always going to be there. Might as well get them "on the books".

In fact I am willing to bet that at least half of you people have no clue as to what's really going on in Allentown as far as illegal gambling is concerned. In fact I am willing to bet(no pun intended) that your significant others also know about these places and are leaving you in the dark. At least if it were "legalized" you might actually find out where your milk and bread money end up.

Video poker to HELP the young?
folks, talk to senior citizens in your communities who are constantly being threatened by the closing of their hot lunch programs (for many, the only hot meal of the day)
this hot lunch program funding was to be a constant, thanks to lottery sales.

Since it already exists, this wouldn't be an expansion of gambling. It would just be another way for the state to get its grubby paws on some more money. But their whole idea of creating a new program to spend this money on is rediculous. That spending mentality is the reason we're projecting budget deficits. Why not just put the money toward the budget shortfall? After that, learn how to live within your means. It's time to cut spending, not create new programs.

"The Department of Revenue would license and regulate the new industry, while state police would conduct criminal background checks of new applicants, whose ranks would include saloon-keepers, machine vendors and manufacturers, officials said."

This sounds like more JOBS (not working jobs) that slick Edddie can hand out to his buddies, another admistrative nightmare that will employ thousands to do the job that a few people would do in the private sector
