Since 1955 Amsterdam has held on to the fantasy that some big manufacturing company would move into town and fill the old carpet mills. It's not going to happen folks! These empty factories are 19th century ruins that are on the verge of falling down or burning down. They should all be torn down. They are a blight and a hazard.

As for the Bridge to Nowhere--I am reminded of several other hairbrained schemes Amsterdam has tried. Remember the Arterial Project, Urban Renewal and The Mall?

Forget the bridge and buy some new fire hydrants!4
