Danbury ISD voters nix $8.9 million bond

Danbury ISD trustees slimmed down a failed bond issue from two years ago, but voters rejected the new $8.9 million issue for an athletic facility and renovations, according to unofficial results Tuesday night.

I think that this bond would have a better chance to pass if instead of spending more on the athletic programs money would be better spent on expanding the math and science programs. i think all of us agree that the middle schools second floor needs to be completed and all of us would be happy to pay for this construction work.

a band building? my understanding is getting kids to participate in band is just about impossible. i don't think a band bldg would change this fact.

Bruce I agrre with you. I am a city tax payer and might have voted for the bond had the school district left out the fieldhouse part of it. Matter of fact I would probally voted yes for a whole new Ele school to be built. But as long as the school district is asking for a 2 million fieldhouse, my vote will always be no. Why does Danbury need a 2 million fieldhouse, our football team does not even win. To DISD we, the tax payers, have voted this down two years in a row, do not ask for another bond for the next several years and next time leave out the fieldhouse and maybe, just maybe, it will pass.
