The Superintendent and the Coach need to hold their heads high. They are two fine people.

While you may be upset you were not in attendence SO what--- I couldn't care less. My number one thought would be thanking God my child found something they believed in. I don't care as to where it is as long as there is a deep faith which will be there to support them when times are hard.
I would be more proud for him for doing it in front of his peers. I don't care what he said in the interview, about because his friends did it he did it--- that is how teenagers communicate, that is their trained response, think about it-- you don't stand up in front of a huge crowd and make such a statement because your friends did it. Maybe it wasn't the schools place but here is the deal, todays parents leave everything up to the schools and kids need something to believe in- it seems he needed something and he found it. I applaude the student and wish him the best. I pray that this huge circus doesn't make him completely regret his decision to stand up. I hope his family can deal with the consequences if he does. Be lucky he was willing to talk to you about God-- most kids won't... |

This was OUTRAGEOUS! They need to be fired and their teaching certificates revoked. |
||||
The deal is that the school sponsored a religious activity and coerced the boys into attending. |

The schools and this country needs the christian god not the jew god or the arab god, that obama is a satanist and want to kill ALL christians as do the rest of his comrads and allow all jews, muslims, gays, and negros make a fool of the white race, we will rise up.
thank god for this coach, he's a true hero, not some f???it fireman, cop, or bastard soldier, they don't beleive in our god we don't need those things. we need to return this country to white christian greatness |

No matter how a person looks at the trip it was school sanctioned. He was a coach therefore an employee and representative of the school. As a coach he took school students he was in charge of. The trip was done in a school bus which is school property. And I highly doubt the coach took the bus without the permission of the school.
There is a separation of Church and Government. The mother who is upset should file suit. I hope she does. I also feel the ACLU should become involved. |

I wished this was the least of the problems for teenagers. I would bet there are families of 2 teenagers who wishes this was the problem they were having instead of the alternate.

No, the coaches, not the school funded this. |

I would be so proud for my son to have a coach in the future who would care enough about them to take them to a church. I commend Coach Mooney! He should hold his head high! Breckinridge County is 99% Christian and I have heard NOTHING about the coach forcing these boys to go or get Baptized. It's called free will, the boy made the choice himself....are these parents mad at their son for choosing the Christian way of life?
|
||||
3 You are right.....people want to complain about little things while others have to death with the deaths of their children. God (yes, I said GOD!) Bless those families who have had real problems in this county!!! |

Exactly the bigger picture is being missed-- if it hadn't been a school bus and the coach would have just met them there....whats that problem? I am sure someone will tell me...
Breck. Co has been dealing with a lot- there have been several young teens killed in car accidents. Two teens, both from the high school, one a football player who had graduated, were taken...that is hard to deal with. That is something when people, even teens (cause lets remember they are people) need something bigger to trust in a big picture. No I wouldn't care what religion it was-- For the most part the fundamental aspects are the same-- I, as a Christian, have no right to judge. That is not my place- If the boys hearts aren't in the right place then it doesn't even matter- and even if they were...now why would he even care to talk about it again. I keep going back to a comment on a different site...we have laws which allow teenage girls to abortions without parental knowledge but we are raising heck over teens loving Jesus... The deal is... we have a lot to work on as a society, and I don't even mean a full country revivial...I mean we need to think about priorities and how we really want them to be set...the deal is, too many people seem to want money not justice....the deal is, good people with good intentions are getting punished --I too, proud to be from Breck County. |

I find it interesting that President Obama was excoriated (Eunice - look it up) when his minister made comments during the election, but now he's a satanist and not a Christian. Please take a position and stick with it.
As to differentiating (Eunice - look it up) between a Christian, Jewish, and Muslim (Eunice - not all Arabs are Muslim; one is a religion, the other an ethnicity) god, its interesting that the Old Testament is part of the scriptures for all three religions. The issue isn't that this public employee had the local football team baptized into a specific religion. The issue is that this public employee inteferred in the families of this players. What has happened to "family values?" If you believe that the family is the cornerstone of Amerian society, then you have to believe that the family determines basic issues of choice such as religion. |

I am proud that we have school staff and coaches who are willing to share their faith with students. I no longer live in Breck Co but I heard this story on the news and was embarassed. With all of the negative things facing teen, drug and alcohol abuse, sex, abortion, etc..., let's applaud those who are willing to love these kids show them that there is something better and more fullfilling than the things of this world.

If you feel kids are going bad due to religion not being taught in schools then you the parents need to come down hard on yourselves and the Preachers. Because the parents must not be teaching it to them at home and the Preachers must not be doing their job in Church.
But schools have absolutely no right to teach one particular religion to everyone’s children. The school especially doesn’t have the legal right. |

Would this Mother be happier if her son was out doing drugs. A 16 year old knows what he wants. Lots of parents would be please to see their children in church rather than on a street corner.

It wasn't Church. It was a school sponsored trip. What about families that are not of that religion? Or have no religion? Government and Church must be kept separate. If the kids are going bad and not believing in God ..... well ..... it's you the parents and the Preachers in the Churches who are at fault. |

I am really amazed at this thread. Why or how could anyone be upset about a young adult makeing a positive choice in his life? It does not matter if it was school sponsered, coach sponsered or Obama sponsered. The parents gave the children permission to go or they would not have been there. Are we to believe that they get permision to take everyones child to every event except for these two's parents? Also, why should they sue and what would make anyone in their right mind think that they deserve money because their children did something positive? There is a word for that mentality and it is "Entitled". I am saddened that these boys felt that they had disappointed their parents so much that they made up a story about doing it because everyone else was.
Be thankful people, I am proud of these young men for attempting to make a positive change in their lives. If we allow these people to sue over a trip that they (the parents) sanctioned becuase they got baptised, who do we sue when they do something negative. Do you think that the parents can sue the government if they boys go out and get high or get someone knocked up? after all they probally will meet the drug dealer at school, and I bet the prego would be from there also. I hope that the parents can come to some kind of positive terms with this. It was, is, and will always be one of the most rediculis blogs to ever come from a town that considers itself so self righteous. |
