If the church didnt take the time to check for past criminal records of this women then the church is at fault. This was like putting the wolf in charge of the chicken house. In God We Trust all others will have a backgroung check before bing hired.

its always interesting to read the comments from people who aren't involved with the story. say what now blames the church for someone stealing from it and ignores the fact that the lady was simply wrong for HER actions, period. background check or not stealing isn't right and regardless she still got caught.

Say what now does have a valid point. She had previously stolen money from the Boy Scouts and a background check would have revealed that to the church. If this had been any other business, she would not have been hired or if she was it would not include handling of money. Churches, by nature, are generous towards people and believe people deserve second chances and some people will take advantage of that.

EVEN IF THEY DID DO A BACKGROUND CHECK ON HER IM SURE THAT THE CHURCH WOULD STILL HAVE LET HER HELP IN THE HOUSE OF GOD- JUST LIKE (STAR READER) SAID EVERYONE DESERVES A 2ND CHANCE AND THE CHURCH TRY TO HELP GUIDE YOU TO BE A BETTER PERSON I DONT BELIEVE THAT IT WAS THE CHURCH'S FAULT / CHURCH'S TRY TO HELP PEOPLE EVEN IF THEY HAVE DONE WRONG BEFORE THEY DONT JUDGE- WELL IF YOUR GOING TO A GOOD CHURCH THEY DONT BUT IT WAS HER OWN FAULT THAT THIS HAPPEND I KNOW THAT WHEN SHE WAS STEALING THAT MONEY THAT SOMETHING INSIDE OF HER TOLD HER NOT TO - I DONT UNDERSTAND HOW SOMEONE COULD DO THAT. EXPECIALLY FOR THINGS THEY DIDNT "NEED" SHE JUST WANTED. I WOULD MAYBE BE MORE UNDERSTANDING IF SHE HAD NO MONEY AND HAD KIDS TO FEED BUT SHE USED THE MONEY ON OTHER THINGS

The church is like a hospital. The sick go to a hospital, sinners go to church.

the church DID do a background check and it did not come up because she was able to plead to a misdemeanor. You have no information about the case, so it might be good to keep your opinions to yourself. It is so easy to pass judgement on others isn't it? especially when you don't know the people, the situation, and the events

People who go to church and live the life they preach are fine with me...No, I dont go to church I have not since I was forced to go to church as a child. I have a problem with a woman who works in a church and STEALS. I have a problem with people who go to church and pretent to be God fearing people then live a different lifestyle. I have problems with priests who abuse children. I have a huge issue with "reverends" who lead a congregations and preach race hate. I dont really see how leading people to the Lord sets preachers up in million dollar homes. Then there are the people who go to church and claim to have such a love for the Lord then head home and cheat on their spouses, lie, cheat and manipulate. Many people choose to have blind faith in someone for no other reason than they are a "good, church going family".

Omg I cant believe it. Ms Everhart used to be my old high school dance teacher in Indianapolis. She never seemed like the type to do something like this. She was always so sweet. I guess people can change for the worse.

It amazes me the lies and deception brought on by the right wing christians who murder children for oil and we are stunned when we learn they do it to their own. Tax the big business, the christian church!
