Why is it crap? The village is still open, just the campgrounds are closed.

Um, the special events are not held IN the forest, they are held in the communities of Cloudcroft, High Rolls, Ruidoso, and Capitan. Those communities are not being closed, just the forest access.

And you have one last weekend to go camping in Lincoln, so GO CAMPING, just remember NO FIRE. Also, what's stopping you from going camping somewhere else in the state that's not closed? You drive to get to other places you want to go, so drive a little way to get to an open camp ground. I haven't heard of Elephant Butte Lake State Park closing so go there.

It has to be closed to keep the El Paso morons from burning down the forest.

I will camp anytime I want to. I will keep a fire too. Nobody, well almost nobody, can get to my spots. The natural areas are ours to use responsibly. I will do so, regardless of what these "ranger rick" types have to say.

Make your signs, patrol the forest, I couldn't care less! hahahahaha

p.s. Let one of these guys come upon me in the woods, and there will be much bigger problems than my campfire. Hahahahahahh. You don't own the forest, you don't own the land, you don't own my freedoms, and you sure as H-E-doublehockeysticks don't own me. hahahahaah

See you out in the pines!!!

Is this you "Jude"? Let's go get all Darma Bummed! I sure would like to head out to the pines and commune with you brother!!! I miss you man. Simple. I have steady supplies and a new pack I have been eager to try. Your my only brother. I have found forgiveness for both yours and mine own transgressions. We need unity right now. I am extending the olive branch this day.....
Or I might just be a crazy old fool seeing something here I wanted to see. I do hope you prove my acumen to be true. I know you well my brother and I need your unity in these troubling times at our feet.

A few stupid people are the reason the forest has to be closed to all people.

Reading some of these posts makes me realize the Forest Service is absolutely correct.

AMEN! "RangerRicks" around here dont like getting their boots dirty, takes the sheen right off. I'll see ya out there. I can manage a small fire for food preparation very easily. its the idiots with bond fires to roast their weenies and marshmallows that strike concern not the sane, experienced campers.

Maybe they don't want to pay the gas prices to go somewhere else. Maybe they don't have enough time off to go somewhere else. I understand why they want to close it, but it's disappointing. I like to go up there just to picnic or go on the trails. Also, there is more privacy if you want to camp than there is at Elephant Butte, and it's a lot cooler there. Are they also closing Bonito Lake? Is that part of the National Forest Area?
