I frankly am a lover of animals. I live in the city limits and had a dog. I let my dog out that doesn't mean I was neglecting her. We now have a new puppy, and I will be damned if someone is going to tell me I can't. My next door neighbor even has a dog who is the most annoying creature on the planet. But that's his right.
Do you really think you're not responsible for your dog's death? You poor stupid Dip. Furthermore, why should you think the driver should have stopped after hitting your dog? What was that going to accomplish? The driver doesn't owe you an apology. If anything you owe the the driver one for letting your dog out on the road.

I can't say I've ever hit someone's dog but I doubt I would stop if I did. If anything, I would be afraid of risking a nasty confrontation (or worse) with some hysterical pet owner. Since you got a new puppy, do yourself and everyone else a favor and keep it on a leash.

A caring, ethical, and responsible driver would have stopped if they were were able to. Acts like this, only shows what kind of stand person they are. Don't let any other creep tell you otherwise.

This coming from the A-hole who lets his dog piss on the neighbor's property. Yea, you're a big heap of ethics.

Yeah, he's a big macho man with big tires on a big jacked up truck. A friendly neighborhood feud for years. He's learned not to mess with me, until he gets really brave drunk. Part of his hangover comes from me.

Angela Cary, the shelter manager, often spends her unpaid time arranging for abandoned dogs to be accepted by rescue organizations hundreds of miles away, and often does the driving herself. Why people think to blame shelter employees for other people's irresponsibility is beyond me. They didn't breed or abandon these dogs and cats.

The adoption fee is a great deal. You get a pet who has his or her initial inoculations, plus the spay or neuter, and microchipping in case your pet gets lost, all for about $50. A vet will charge you a couple hundred or so.

Stop burning these women at the stake. They do a great job and it's difficult work. Both my dogs are from Noah's Ark. Don't assume they only wind up with messed-up animals. They are very good at seeing which dogs and cats are the most adoptable and promoting them.

As I predicted previously, someone would bitch and moan because they think they should be able to breed as many dogs as they choose. A law should be in place to fine stupid, inbred dog (or should I say, "Pit Bull) breeders from loading the shelter with rejects.
As far as you're concerned, it is your fault because you allowed your dog to run around at will, without the protection of a leash. OWN IT! Carlsbad Ordinances require they be leashed at all times when in the public. Don't blame anyone else for your irresponsibility. responsibility.
When she got hit I was not in any city ordinaces you ignorant idiot. So, just shut the hell up. I'm not saying it wasn't my fault, but if I want to have a dog and breed it that is my damn right. They were assholes for not stopping. She had a cone on her head from just having surgery to get her fixed when she got hit. So please STFU already.

Who the hell needs cats? Cats in my opinion Are nasty! Why is there not a law stating if your cat is running loose, you are cited for cat running loose! Cats poop and pee all over, and my gosh it stinks! Their poop causes parvovirus, that in turn can kill dogs!

I agree, but it's only part of the problem. You have to consider all the folks who breed pit bulls, thinking they'll big money. They might earn a little, but comparing profit to cost of food, the cost is even.
Did you know that pit bulls are the dominant breed in the shelter. That's because all those people who bought all those puppies throw them away, without an ounce of guilt or regret.
Don't you think the women putting the pets at Noah's Ark , go home with heavy hearts? Could you go to work each day, knowing during that you would be required to kill a pet someone just threw away? Thank these women. Euthanization is preferable to a dog or cat spending 2 to 3 months out in the weather, starving to death.
I have a solution: Put breeding restrictions on Carlsbad. Charge $300 to 500 per year for a breeding license. Punish people who broke the law breeding unwanted pets. Some cities in Colorado adopted this plan, and the shelters had much fewer unwanted pets.
I know the next post is going to say, "I'll be damned if someone's going to tell me I can breed my pets. Then they sneak to Noah's Ark in the dead of night to disgard their unwanted pets.

In Carlsbad, dogs and cats are completely disposable. Dogs are usually placed in a fenced-in back yard where they are allowed to bark incessantly all night long, go without food and water for long stretches of time, and then die a horrible death of neglect. But no problem, there are plenty more they came from! Or they are taken out in the countryside and used for target practice. This is true. And possibly worst of all - their meat is sometimes used to fill the taco shells and Mexican food entrees that locals love so much. But let's face it, whether it's talking on cell phones while driving, driving recklessly, or wallowing in radiation, this town is one nasty, barbaric pee hole. Cheers!
As far as Mexican entrees having dog meat in them, you are one the reasons why there is soooo much discrimination in this town also!!!

Shame on many of you! These cats and dogs are all God's creatures, just as you are. How sad God must be that you have so little regard for his creations. Furthermore, I was always told to hang out with people that have a high regard for their Mother and treat their animals well. I have found that to be sooooo true. Please don't misunderstand I am not trying to judge you, it's not my job. It's just sad to read of so many heartless people.

I partially agree. I am an APBT lover, promoter, activist, owner, and enthusiast. I DO, however, agree with euthanasia-for pit bull fighters, fight trainers, and "fighting dog" breeders. Not just pit bulls, though - we have had the same problems for DECADES with a myriad of breeds. Rottweilers? Dobermans? Min-pins, chows, boxer dogs? Popularity and ignorance of breed capabilities lead to high demand and low responsibility.
BY ALL MEANS, require a breed licensing fee. But go further. Require registration of dangerous domestics, as well as training and information for the owners of these dogs. Do not ban or restrict these astonishingly capable and intelligent dogs. Ban ignorant lazy neglectful owners from having them. Those who break these laws can be run through the judicial system just like people who unlawfully possess weapons. Because that is what an untrained (or improperly trained) APBT, Amstaff, Doberman, Rottweiler, Chow, Wolf - IS! A weapon. One I don't want running loose around my children or my animals. Punish the deed. Jail the owner. But please - do not blame the breed any more than you would blame a spoon or a restaurant for obesity. 90,000,000 gun owners killed nobody yesterday, and neither did millions of dogs or their RESPONSIBLE humans.
Thank you for your time.

It is not only pitbulls, though they are the number one breed put to sleep due to overbreeding. The number two breed put to sleep is the Chihuahua. Just look at the Carlsbad Facebook pages there are usually a half dozen or more litters up for sale everyday. Those who have a problem with neutering are just being stupid. Neutering and spaying increases a dogs lifespan and gives them a healthier happier life all around. Just because you keep your dog in a fenced-in yard is no guarantee. Male dogs can perform feats of magic when they smell a female in heat including getting out of ot into a fenced yard.

Another issue here is the love of puppies I know people who get a puppy and as soon as the puppy cuteness wears off out into the yard and another puppy arrives. Puppy are cute, but they grow quickly people here think pets are disposable. Finally and my biggest pet peeve is the a-holes who leave a dog chained 24/7 without ever petting it, feeding it when they remember, then throwing it in the dumpster when they find it dead at the end of the chain.

In my opinion if you do not adopt a pet to be a permanent member of your family and are unable to make the commitment even if it misbehaves or chews on things (it is your job to take the time to work with them) then you have no business owning a pet plain and simple. All this repeated home breeding to make a quick buck needs to be regulated as well.

stray cats/dogs are not MY animals..... they are YOURS, if you take them home with you, otherwise they are feral and they are trespassing on my land and thus need to be killed at the animal shelter....

It is NOT my job to care for YOUR strays!!!!!
