...poor, POooor county workers. Luckily, they'll have the other 3 years and 10 months to sit on their arses, do their nails and rest up while dreaming of their pension.

you need to go to their office and watch them ! you have no idea what they do in that office , they work hard and there is alot more to it than what you know ! they do not sit on their '' arses'' as you say and do their nails waiting on pensions.. mr no it all go see for yourself what all they do it a day ! and no I do not work there, but my daughter does , and I have seen what they do . so before you open your mouth and insert your foot any more , go see for yourself . they don't get paid enough and don't get credit enough for what they do there !

When I voted 6 months ago, my card said to go to location A. I waited in line there then was told I wasn't on the books and that I needed to go to location B. I waited in line at B and they told me to go to location C. I waited in line a third time and finally voted.
Later, I went to the voter registration place and asked why I was given the runaround. No fewer than 4 voter registration experts had no explanation. They assureed me that place A ( which is what's on my voter ID card) is where I should go on Nov 6. I got my doubts. They ACTUALLY were doing their NAILS when I talked to them, Mr. "GO LOOK"!
Now you got me so pissed off, I ain't stopping here. I'm going to ALSO go out on a limb and suggest what everybody else is thinking but is too chicken to say:
Pay firefighters BY-THE-FIRE with no benefits, just like the rest of us private sector schlubs get who PAY THEIR WAGES.

really? so they have to get real jobs, instead of just the ones saving peoples lives and property... so we have to call them from work, or from home, so it takes 20 mintues to get to the fire instead of 5 (Since we pay them to live in the firehouse and have no life) and watch as our loved ones burn to death, our houses burn to the ground, someone stuck in the canal drowns, and countless other calamities we pay these people to protect us from. they teach our children about fire safety, and what to do in case of a fire. sure, we know what to do... but why? could it be that firefighter who visited us in 1st grade?
if anything i think these people should get paid more, and deserve respect.
btw its a law that we have to pay them overtime for living at the station. there was a law passed some years ago because the abq fire department was only paying the fire fighters for some of the time they were there. NM supreme court ruled they were in the wrong and they had to back pay a considerable amount

All right, firefighter friend. I'd fight ya, but I'll yield 50-50 on all that.
