I have the privilege of being related to Ernest B. Gutierrez. Maria, his wonderful wife of over 65 years is the
sister of my mother-in-law from Ecuador. Ernest always told me about Alamogordo and LA LUZ and I promised him 45 years ago, one day I would visit the places where he grew up.
I did so with my wife in 2003. What a marvellous spot on our earth. Ever since we love New Mexico. Ernest B. is an
outstanding character,he raised a beautiful family, he served his country and he is a great friend. My wife and I wish him many more years to enjoy his retirement.

Great story, I also had grandparents who settle in La Luz Canyon and above Tularosa where the Virden place is. They were here when this all belong to Mexico.

All of the "Alamogordo's Own" articles written by Mr. Burroughs have been great. It's a good way to record the history of the people and community.

Many thanks - an interesting article.
Wonderful to see Ernie looking so well - I knew him, his lovely wife and family, during the years they were in Palermo
