Ellinger works through logging challenges
#1 May 1, 2011
Mr. Mayor hmm I guess you have experience in resource management? His story is that he makes a living and works well with the Forest Service. Unlike you and your past county comminsioner buddy Nevison. Limited logging operations?? OMG, we have cut that forest throughout the 20th century. Most of the forest is midage timber, and in some circumstances needs to rest. In the 1980's prior to the spotted owl recovery plan, the forest really was cut heavy for production. We had insect outbreaks during that time period and after. You cant produce the amount that you want. Its not sustanable. We live in the southwest, we get little precipatation, and the soil productivity is relatively low. Our timber comes from Canada and the Northwest and will continue to. You wanted to comment on this article, because Ellinger just didn't call Pearce out for not completely knowing what he was talking about, but you also. I read that you and the other county guys were loving it up and telling Pearce whatever he wanted. Its great to see that you want to be a good partner with the Forest Service by all of your comments. Pearce has you and the other county commisioners to be his lap dogs.

What I encourage americans to understand that Steve Pearce and Maynard are not informed individuals. The local logger tells them something that they both dont want to hear. I actually think its unprofessional for the mayor and a congressman which are considered to be public servants to so openly disrespect the Forest Service like they do. From the pictures of their big meeting in Cloudcroft, I didnt see any Forest Service employees? Were they invited? Probably not, they wanted people to all agree with each other. I would encourage the people of Cloudcroft to rethink, reelecting this guy.

What I would like all americans to understand that Mr Pearce is an informed individual. He does his homework. All people are invited to the open rallys for and against.i think it is time that the government starts doing what they are paid to do. Lets not forget that we are the goernment and the politicians are supposed to work for us. http://www.alamoeasyads.com

What people need to understand is that the Forest Service down here at our level, does not establish policy. They implement policy passed down by their political masters.
Mr. Pearce and company control them quite nicely through the budget process and if they aren't happy, they can change the operation of the Forest Service quite easily.
What Mr. Pearce did was grandstand. Did it with the lizards too. He has an agenda that may or may not coincide with what the people want. By holding these "rallies" and grabbing some news time he is trying to make it look like he is doing our will.
Personally I would much prefer to see him back in D.C. twisting the arms off Udall and Bingaman to get them in line adn off their Socialist power play.

If we don't stand here then where? let the Fish and wildlife prove to us that this lizard thing will not kill jobs. Why don't you tree huggers start trying to save the lives of the the children that are way more important than some lizard. Our children need us to help save them from the abuse, neglect and exposure to the drugs. You want to save something start here. Report abuse do not be afraid. http://www.alamoeasyads.com
