Maybe if he had been taken to El Paso FIRST, his life could have been saved.
What a precious waste of time.

And just how easy is it to get up in that area with a helicopter?

EXACTLY! No place to land a helo up there.

the helo has to land either in Cloudcroft or just east of the HWY82 and Florida junction. Patients with trauma have to be somewhat stabilized to fly. Perhaps we should take this as a warning to drive more cautiously on that stretch of road.

it isn't just priorities. landing zone has to have a reasonable level area. there cant be any trees,or power lines too close. areas in the north eastern part of the county are rough. no responsible safety conscious pilot will land "just about anywhere" The helo pilots have a responsibility to not become victims themselves or damage and put out of commission a highly valuable asset. we dont have helos just sitting around everywhere. 1 damaged helo can have enormous effect. we dont like to see our patients suffer any more than what is absolutely unavoidable.

I think you've been watching too much TV. Drive up to mile marker 4 and point out where you would land a helicopter. Make sure you call the company first and find out how much clearance space and level land they require.

It's obvious that you don't know squat about flying. The highest you have probably ever been up is Dumbo at Disney World!
