So, what would the taxes on $1.2 million be? Gotta be more than I can pay. Geez, what's so hard about handing out a business license and collecting taxes? Is the expense of getting 200 lbs of cannabis off the street worth it? The Tuscon Border Patrol gets 2.5 Tons a DAY. Kinda' makes that 200 lbs seems like small potatoes. We've been fighting for a drug free world for 70+ years and I can still go to my corner convenience store and get anything I want in any quantity. And I don't even ask for anything...It comes to me.

Winning that drug war, right?

200 lbs. down and tons more to replace it. Face it Prohibtion didn't work with alcohol, and the only thing Cannabis prohibition has helped is the US prison population.
How is it the FDA approves a 100% THC pill (Marinol), but the DEA is warning the world of 13% THC "Super Weed"? I may be stoned, but I always thought 100 was more than 13.

So, what would the cost in lost brain cells, job productivity, and medical costs due to DUI be? Legalization isn't such a good idea after all. Maybe you want to live in a nation of burned out zombies, but most of us don't.

I guess you would rather have people dead from drunk driving instead of being brain dead?

Your response seems to indicate that you believe that currently no one uses cannabis because of prohibition. Prohibition. That is the whole issue. Currently, anyone, and I mean anyone, that wants cannabis can get it regardless of prohibition. If that many people use it...if the border patrol takes in tons each and every day then why the continued prohibition against it? Prohibition isn't working. Anyone can get it. Young/old...doesn't matter. No one checks ID. Cannabis doesn't turn you into a zombie. Are we currently a nation of zombies? A lot of people use cannabis. It was legal here until 1937. That's most of our nations history. Were our ancestors zombies? What about Canada? Are they zombies?...Portugal?...Spain?. ..the Netherlands? They haven't fallen to the zombie plague. They don't have any of the problems you mention. The Germans and Swiss even have legal heroin! No zombies there. If you want to talk about costs lets review the deaths from overzealous cops. You're talking about zombies and I'm talking about cops shooting and killing you over a plant. Kinda puts that DUI you talk about in perspective. Killed over a weed. What? Did God make a mistake? He put there for a reason. And I don't think it was for an excuse to kill someone. Google 'no-knock drug warrant deaths' and see exactly what system you propose to maintain. Google Cheye Calvo, mayor of Berwyn Heights, Maryland and see what the cops did to him. I'll take zombies over nazi cops any day!

Nice speech, but the fact that marijuana is illegal means just that. The fact that "anyone can get it" really isn't relevant to the discussion. And I've been to Switzerland, and saw first hand what legalized heroin does to people, in "Needle Park" in Zurich. It's not something that the Swiss should be proud of, and not something for us to emulate.

We are a nation of laws, which were passed by our elected representatives. You may disagree with cetain laws, but you just can't choose which laws to follow and which to ignore, unless you are prepared to pay the consequences of breaking said laws. If enough people want to change a law, they can do so, but until then, the law should be obeyed. Otherwise, society would dissolve into lawlessness and chaos, if everyone just did as they pleased. That's why we have a legal system, and law enforcement. Once again, if you choose to break the law, that's your decision, and you'll have to live with the consequences of doing so, if it comes to that.

How do you jump to that conclusion from what I posted? Don't be absurd. Deaths from drunk driving or DUI are equally bad, and I'd rather have neither! If that's the best response you can make, that doesn't say much for your postion on this issue.

Yeah, I really feel safe now. See they can't legalize it, all these cops would be out of work and Fort Lee would not get all those fed funds to waste.
$84,000. in taxes lost and how much was wasted on this joint op? Way to much........ its the Chris Cristie way

Heroin is nothing like marijuana. Get a clue. Legalize it, stop sending harmless people to jail, stop wasting money on something thats widely available and widely used. I can get weed all day long but the fact that I'd serve more time for posessing a pound of weed than a child molestor gets for doing disgusting unspeakable things with a child. ITS STUPID. Obama needs to stop trying to please the world and get his tax on. Yes WE CAN tax marijuana and it will greatly help. Unless America likes having people who are harmless flooding the prison system. Its legal to get drunk and be an asshole, why is it illegal to get high and enjoy your music more? Some people cant handle marijuana, some people cant handle alcohol.
Also, seriously, the guy making the comparison between HEROIN and WEED is just being an asshole. HEROIN is terrible. Marijuana just makes you giggle, get the munchies, and wanna jam. Whats so bad about that? yes it can cause you to be a little melted, but alcohol can cause you to beat the shit out of someone over nothing cuz ur too drunk to realize it. OH WELL time to grow up and start making some money off the stoners rather than throwing them in jail.

we have more people in prison than any other country in the world by a long shot. so much of it is because of marijuana. and why is that? is this a nation of criminals? i doubt that. maybe the prohibition of marijuana is just a bad idea. after all, we call this a "free society". and pot truly is harmless. There hasnt been 1 documented death because of pot overdose, or cancer caused by it. And most people use it responsibly.

besides, who are we to deem any of nature's creations illegal? its ridiculous..

Looks like all the potheads are in a frenzy, because someone had the nerve to remind them that their beloved weed is illegal. Looking at the obnoxious posts from the pro-legalization crowd reminds me of why it's called dope!

Wow, Anti-Stupid and AOL. Oxymoron? I would say the real dopes are the prohibitionists and their cop stooges. Google Cheye Calvo, mayor of Berwyn Heights, Maryland. Is that what you advocate (ad-vuh-keyt: to speak or write in favor of; support or urge by argument; recommend publicly)? Or is that too obnoxious?(uhb-nok-shuhs: highly objectionable or offensive; odious) If not, google "no knock drug warrant deaths". Kinda makes you think about that total, unyielding support for the cops. Think about it. Is your address similar to one scheduled for a drug/swat team raid? Cops are getting surplus military gear and citizens are the natural target.

Someone is being a little too self-important and smug on this thread, which is typical for an obnoxious liberal like TYC.
