Most parts of this country start with competitve athletics in 7th grade. While I appreciate everything that the volunteer parents do for their community, I wonder why wealthy Bergen County doesn't adopt the model followed by much poorer parts of the country. I don't want higher taxes, this is just a hypothetical question. One may argue that adopting a high school model in middle school would benefit the training of our student athletes. Then again, giving the football program as an example, Closter's track record has been good, so why fool with it?
