he should be responsible because shiiitt happens! accident. it's a dog that got out and accidently ran into the street...it didnt know what it was doing. it's a dog. animal. completely different case than a human who throws himself into the road.. or throws snow balls or ice chunks at your car.. those people pay. not the dog.
Because shiiiitttt happens? Oh well, you've swayed me to your side.

Of course the dog didn't know what it was doing! That's why it's the owner's responsibility to keep the dog under control. The owner failed, whether accident or not.

Your argument is completely and utterly illogical and moronic.

There you go, brainiac. This demonstrates the intellect of your argument. You actually think people are arguing that the dog (who is dead by the way -- did you miss that memo?) should pay. We're talking about the owner, not the dog paying.

Your right Ashlea - the nerve of him to ask for the money that he is out.

Again you are right in that he should just go ahead and pay those people the amount the pet owners are asking. Somewhere along the lines of double the actual damages to him. they did lose a pet, but being from texas you should know that pet are property. This is why when a dog dies from negligence you can recoup your losses.

And before you quote that - the pet owners are the negligent party in this case.

The guy that hit the dog, get a life. You don't stand a chance in court suing the owners of the dog that you hit.

The driver should be ashamed of himself. Knowing most drivers he was either on the cell or not watching the road. The driver is responsible for hitting the dog. He should pay the owner for what happen.

You'd better start taking some driving lessons then, stupid, so you can learn to drive without hitting animals.
And whoo hoo! for you having a perfect condition car - what a bunch of hot air you are !(and vain too.) Sorry, pal, but there are more important things in life than your perfect little car. Maybe if you got out more ...

You're absolutely right you little pr!ck. Goody for me! Tra la la la la. I get out plenty, in my beautiful perfect condition car. And as I'm out joyriding I hope I hit your dog.

Hitting a dog that runs in front of your car makes you a murderer? If I send you some cash, will you use it to purchase a brain?

Are you that dumb wrote:
Jersey Joe...Get your head checked....let the dog loose on society...the dog was 13lbs. The owners are counter suing the idiot to cover the expense they are going to have to put out to attend court with the loser. You are missing the point....they lost a family member. Quit drinking that Jersey water....
Soooo, what I hear you saying is that it's be better that he should swerve to avoid the precious puppy and drive his vehicle into a tree and die?

If a chair fall off of a truck and causes an accident, it is the chair owner/driver of the truck that is responsible. How is this any different? In the law, a dog is chattel, not a person. Why should the dog's weight/breed/color matter--it is still a roadway obstacle.

Jersey water...good one! That the best you got?? Attack the messenger instead of logically addressing the argument with facts...yeah, there's a debate strategy! LOL!

From your picture, it looks like you kinda can't reach the gas and break pedals. That's too bad...
But hey, good for us - that's one less bad driver on the road.

You all wanna say what if it were a child? I don't know, why don't you look up some case law. It varies state to state. Someone's got to pay for it - generally it's insurance. Probably your home owner's insurance would cover if your kid ran out into the road.

Bottom line, get a fence... and use it.
