Doesn't really matter if its a camera or a police officer giving you a ticket. If you break the law you should be fined for doing so. Laws are in place to keep us safe.

Bringing a heightened awareness to drivers that you are not supposed to run red lights seems like an alright thing to me.

Cameras are a good thing for drivers. They make streets safer for everyone on them, and only punish those that break the laws. If you don't break the law what do you have to worry about?

Does this mean I have to set my beer down when driving through these intersections so the cameras wont catch me drinking and driving ?

Really, Going to fast? hmmm lets say that I am doing 45. Which is the speed limit in these areas. That is alot faster than normal red light areas which are usually 35 or less. hmmm, 4 seconds of yellow light. It takes at least a second to notice the light change and react. That gives me 3 seconds to stop. With the driver behind me who is talking on their cell phone/texting and probably tail-gaiting me. I don't think that this is going to be anything but a recipe for trouble. More police? Where are they? As DHS said. What about the side streets?
Hey here's an idea. Drive at the speed limit or less, pay atttention and obey the law and you won't have to worry about cameras being there, just the dipsticks who can't do those three things.

You could use a brown paper bag like Rod does.

They won't be able to verify if it's beer or soda or if it's even you driving the car. Just another reason this 1984 BS is just a shameless shakedown. I hope someone doesn't steal my car while I'm up at work and go racing up and down the streets of Clive. Id have to go to court and try to prove it wasn't me.
