If the city if Clive is making so much money with these cameras. Then they are not working to stop people from running red lights. So it's just easy money for Clive and any other city that uses them.
They have nothing to do with safety or saving lives. Only making money.

I like to hear all you people cry, saying these cameras are set up for money only !!!
The sole reason of these cameras, are for your safty only. If IDIOTS would only heed to our State Laws, then IDIOTS would not get into accidents. thus IDIOTS would not receive traffic tickets.
We have traffic cameras set up at the most accident prone areas, that way we can study what can be done to improve the safety of our most traveled intersections.
Idiots will always be Idiots, and usually when they receive a ticket for a traffic violation, they have other outstanding tickets they have not paid, so to me, they are not worried about another ticket.

Really? These are for my safety? Hmmm, I in no way see how these are for my safety. I am much more likely to slam on my brakes if I know the light has a traffic camera. Which has caused me no end of safety issues with the drivers behind me. I have been nearly rear ended a couple of times now. And it is only a matter of time before there is a serious possibility of an accident at 100th and Hickman. When that day comes, I hope the city of Clive is prepared to deal with the lawsuit that will be delivered to their front door. Those cameras are there for money generation and are in reality a safety hazard to any motorist going through those intersections.

PS. Anyone can say they are Sgt such and such. There is no way on this site to prove who is who.

I am glad to hear that have found away to capture people who do illegal driving. There are not enough law enforement out there to do the job. I hope it starts making people think when they drive about slowing down and running stop signs. These are things that cost accidents and raise our insurance rates. When you cause an accident because you were in to big a hurry to follow the law, you violate and cause an injury to a person you violate there rights.

To the person who says that they might slam on the brake and cause and accident. Apparently you are going to fast.

If the red light cameras are so effective in raising revenues to hire more officers, why is there now still no traffic control on the residential side streets.
I see speeders on those streets almost every day. Where the limit is 25, they are doing at least 35-40. The anarchy evidenced by those kind of people that live in these neighborhoods and are family men & women is getting really scary!

Really, Going to fast? hmmm lets say that I am doing 45. Which is the speed limit in these areas. That is alot faster than normal red light areas which are usually 35 or less. hmmm, 4 seconds of yellow light. It takes at least a second to notice the light change and react. That gives me 3 seconds to stop. With the driver behind me who is talking on their cell phone/texting and probably tail-gaiting me. I don't think that this is going to be anything but a recipe for trouble. More police? Where are they? As DHS said. What about the side streets?

The people who live in the Clive area must be a bunch of spineless idiots to allow this. Dance chimps dance!

The left turn light at 128th & Hickman usually doesn't give 4 cars time to turn on a green light. In order to do so the first car has to be alert and ready to go..which isn't always the case!

Challenge it in court, license plate pics do not show the driver. Time to start wearing a hat and sunglasses. Funny how they say its for our saftey yet they wont get illegals off the street. Ever been hit by an illegal? You get stuck with the bill and they go on thier merry way when they should be deported on the spot.

Yes, this happened to my daughter. The driver at fault had no license or insurance and spoke very little english, mostly spanish. The police officer did not take him to jail or even give him a ticket, he just sent him on his way to find his next victim.

I'm in full agreement with Mr. Henderson and Sgt. Gonzalez. If collisions, particularly collisions causing injury can be reduced, it is a valuable program. If the complainers don't run red lights, they won't get tickets.

Thank goodness! I cant wait for the cameras to be installed on I-235, im sick and tired of morons tailgaiting, driving 20 mph over the speed limit while 'trying' to text on thier phones. You cant even create a buffer stop zone between you and the car in front of you with all you morons and your "im in a bigger hurry than everyone else" stupid cut off game.
I hope you sissys (boo hoo hoo, I cant break the law anymore)get so many tickets you lose your right to drive and have to use a bicycle.
And by the way morons, winter is around the corner.
Its time to relearn how to drive on ice and snow, you know, when you drive 75-80 mph on ice/snow and skid into the ditch? I think its funny! In 30 years of driving in Iowa ive never been in a snow or ice related accident, even though I drive almost all day. Its called common sense.

I think the red light cameras do a lot for the safety of drivers, including enforcing speed limits even if that is not exactly what they ticket for.

This is good news. These systems along with improved cars, seat belt usage, and better dui enforcement have all helped reduce traffic fatalities to their lowest levels since 1950.

This is not about money. Its about keeping us safe on the road. They should have been here since the beginning of time. They are great.

I like the idea that only the drivers breaking the law are funding the system. That there are three more police officers on the streets and that traffic incidents are down.

I'm very upset that the city has decided to properly enforce our traffic laws. How dare they use the latest technology to penalize lawbreakers and reckless drivers, it's like they're trying to protect the public welfare or something.
