Steve Alford has left the State of Iowa already. Shouldn't it be time to change the name of that law? How about the Aberg plea?

She gets sentenced Dec.9th. Let's hope for suspension of her license so she doesnt commit more crimes with her car. From what I have seen on the internet that she has had many years of disobeying the rules. Look up her name on Iowa courts, she has a lengthly number of charges over the years. The kids always get the backlash from bad choices of some parents.

The Alford plea is a federal law not a state law it has nothing to do with Steve Alford.
Under the Alford plea the defendant admits that sufficient evidence exists with which the prosecution could likely convince a judge or jury to find the defendant guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.

that is correct, and in many ways i am uncomfortable with it

by accepting an alford plea, the state is acknowledging that the state will convict a person because they can, not because they are guilty (although I think innocent people rarely plea alford)

the person pleaing is basicaly saying 'i'm innocent, but caught in a coincidence and i cant take a chance' such a person shouldnt be doing any time at all IF they are telling the truth

'guilt or innocence' is not a minor footnote to a sentence

I hope they go easy on her. She looks like a fun woman. A few drinks and put her behind the wheel and it would be more exciting than Adventureland.
