It's truly irritating when those drivers who somehow have the idea that slowing down doesn't apply to them - inconveniences and hurts those who are trying to do it correctly. The fact that these people had to go back to Des Moines and wait it out doesn't cause any sympathy on my behalf - a word to the wise sholdl be sufficient.

I'm surprised you goons haven't slowed down and it's the third storm. Makes me wonder if the gray matter of Iowans were eaten by the crows.

Human stupidity never ceases to amaze me..After all this snow and ice you would think people would learn but it is obvious that some never do.

Had a police cruiser lose control in front of me today at the 73rd street overpass on I-235. The police cruiser rested on top of the railing after it skidded to a stop. I missed hitting him by a few inches. His tires were hanging over the edge. We were traveling about 35mph on the interstate at the time. You people act like being in an accident automatically means people were driving too fast. Sometimes things happen no matter how careful you are. But yes there are morons out there driving too fast for conditions. Its easy to judge sitting at your computer at home I guess.
caught off guard

Surprise....it's winter. It occurs every year, you would think by now drivers would SLOW DOWN.
A cold catches you off guard, an unexpected bill,a phone call in the middle of the night, a flat tire...all catch you off guard, but NOT freaking winter. GEEZ.....slow the F down already

Guess what Rocko? 35 mph is too fast in a blizzard! If you can't figure that out when cars are spinning out in front of you, then stay off the hiways so I can get through. Wait a minute! I stayed off the highways! I guess when they say don't drive they mean it. Next time Rocko STAY OFF THE ROADS. It would be a pity if something happened to those who had to rescue the morons who think they know better than the Hiway patrol who drive in all kinds of weather every day. People on the hiways in weather like this are morons who get what they deserve!

even music man wrote a song about what jerks iowans are

Townspeople:
Oh, there's nothing halfway
About the Iowa way to treat you,
When we treat you
Which we may not do at all.
There's an Iowa kind of special
Chip-on-the-shoulder attitude.
We've never been without.
That we recall.
We can be cold
As our falling thermometers in December
If you ask about our weather in July.
And we're so by God stubborn
We could stand touchin' noses
For a week at a time
And never see eye-to-eye.
But what the heck, you're welcome,
Join us at the picnic.
You can eat your fill
Of all the food you bring yourself.
You really ought to give Iowa a try.
Provided you are contrary,
We can be cold
As our falling thermometer in December
If you ask about our weather in July.
And we're so by God stubborn
We can stand touchin' noses
For a week at a time
And never see eye-to-eye.
But we'll give you our shirt
And a back to go with it
If your crops should happen to die.

Farmer:
So, what the heck, you're welcome,
Glad to have you with us.

Farmer and Wife:
Even though we may not ever mention it again.

Townspeople:
You really ought to give Iowa
Hawkeye Iowa
Dubuque, Des
Moines, Davenport, Marshalltown,
Mason City, Keokuk, Ames,
Clear Lake
Ought to give Iowa a try!

I call it the "NOT ME" syndrome. People think that 'other' people drive like idiots, but "NOT ME!!!" I have news for oyou folks, it IS you!!! When the city closes schools, when the DOT says STAY OFF THE ROADS, that means YOU!!! So I have NO sympathy for ANYONE who gets stuck in a drift the size of my house...

Yeah we ignored the warnings because we have to go to work our boss says you dont come to work you dont have a job. Well we slow down and drive to work cause we wouldnt want Hy-Vee to do without making a buck. So here we are driving when told not too.

Perhaps Iowa should follow Minnesota and Fine $1000 for traveling on closed roadways. Perhaps then fewer idiots would venture out when warned. But then again???
