Police in the Des Moines suburb of Clive are parking their squad cars and hitting the road on bicycles as the price of gas continues to climb.

Wow, the AP cut this story in half and the result is misleading.

The Clive Police will be utilizing their bike patrol more, but they aren't eliminating their use of patrol cars.

They're just looking for more cost-effective and fuel-efficient methods of patrolling, including turning off the engine rather than idling and yes, using more bike and foot patrols.
