Their was an article yesterday about Akron losing nearly 1600 people from 2006 to 2007, due to leaving the area. Combine that yearly and we are in trouble.

Its the good people that are leaving leaving more and more vacancies for scum to rent and degrade the area further.

There is no way that building should not be worth wat he is asking. But the good people are leaving to invest somewhere else.

And, jes' around the corner, the city hall hero's buddy is buildin' a $20 million dollar complex because he got the property for nearly free.

Too bad about this guy. The economy effects ever-buddy. Mebbe Akron U will snap it up for a song at the sheriff's sale.

Sommerville will buy it. Then he will sell it back to the city and make a huge profit.

Then the mayor will invest tax payers dollars on it and make it something democrtic fluffy.

Then the city will sell it at a huge loss to a Plusquellic associate.

I think everyone already knows this story. Yadda Yadda yadda.

Lets watch and see what happens

City hall wake up. People are fleeing Akron. You are selling the sewers because your leadership has lost the tax base you democrates loved so well.
Instead of making the city safe and giving better schools you want to sell the sewers so you can make Akron into a larger welfare town.
Saftey, schools, Safty schools, safty schools.
Not support ther ganfg banger, Give to the lazy.
The good citizens haved been crying for jobs and a safe city and what do we get Sommerville and Plusquellic follys

Hmmm, Sounds like this guy should serve a little time for adding 40 properties to the ever growing inventory of foreclosures. It's one thing when a family looses their home, but I know too many stupid Investors that can just walk away from there problems and let the general public absorb it. FYI,if you read the ABJ on Monday, you would have seen the Barberton couple that was arrested for $10.00 in back taxes. Please tell me how and the heck this guy is getting away with over $50,000.00. This guy should be sitting in the court room with Mr. Evergreen and company.

Will you all sit here and just complain, or will you actually DO something.

This man obviously had more money than business smarts when he began this real estate investing project.

Actually, I wouldn't doubt it if UA decided to buy the building. It's right next to the ex-Jillian's block, and not far from Polsky. Isn't someone already developing off-campus housing and entertainment there? Heck, if it means one less empty building and more people downtown, I say they should go for it.

They'd probably get a good deal on this building, considering what they're spending on the eminent domain proceedings near the new stadium.

Its actually a very cool old building-went through it several years ago. Needs alot of work though. Still I hope the rehab it rather than tear it down. Too many of our architectural gems have been lost to the wrecking ball.

Considering the location of the building, across from Lock 3, I would think the administration would be very concerned about the disrepair. When people go downtown they want to see improvements, especially right in the hub.

I don't know what happened with the owners finances, I just hate to see another historical building crumble away.

I think putting expensive condos in downtown is a bad idea right now. People who have that kind of money still live rather quietly in the burbs.

Will Akron ever pull high dollar condo owners to the downtown area? Things will have to change. As for myself, I don't think the Mayflower would make a good neighbor for a high dollar condo.

Still, I hope things work out for the owner and he can save the building

This guy and Willan used to belly up to the bar together. I saw him a few times. Big loud obnoxious A-hole. Driving around in a Hummer throwing money at strippers. I heard Davey boys arrest sent Jeremy running for the hills at first.I hope this is not the bottom of the hole yet for this guy. Karma is a b*$ch!!!

Not more money than business smarts, just stupid lenders willing to throw money at under educated investors as long as they had a pulse. Believe me, this guy made his money and now the public will absorb his foreclosures while he sits in the Keys behind the wheel of his HUMMER.
