I think the 2 on the boat had a plot to kill him. Why would you not jump in and or throw a line or life vest to him????? All boats have them/// Dateline story in due time

I am relieved that his body was found.
It was just his time to go.

Please dont assume things like that. especialy when you are not informed of the complete circumstances.

He was our family friend.

Btw, It would be suicide to jump in as the boat is drifting away at just over 5 feet per second, and the boat was quick-preped the day before and the throwable was not easily undone. especialy all of this in 5-6ft seas

I hope you are not joking about this subject, because there have been many suspicious drownings, and I have been doing research on this subject. In the last three years there have been many reports of abbormally large catfish is ponds and lakes in the midwest. I believe something in the environment has changed, most likely a fertilizer or pesticide that is causing a mutation in these bottom feeders. They also seem more aggressive when searching for food. They don't eat humans, but they can easily drag down and drown a full grown man.

This should be investigated for every drowning in a body of water where these things live.

64 years old? What were the ages of the other two? How come one of them couldn't try and swim in those waves. And, why wasn't he tied to anything. Saftey first...

I know 64 is not THAT old...but a horrible way to go. I feel for his family and what they must be going through. I also feel for the two who might have been able to save him. There is no telling what's going through their minds right now.

The other two guys saw the BIG catfish and were afraid for their lives. Fact of the matter, one said to the other "we're gonna need a bigger boat" just before they radioed the Coast Guard.

I know you're trying to be funny, but this spring I caught an 8 lb large mouth and put it on a bigger hook as bait. Then I threw chum in the water and trolled along a deep section of Hoover. You wouldn't think chum would attract a bottom feeder, but I hooked a 75 lb catfish that was big enough to eat a child.

You can joke about, but I'd stay out of the water if I was you.

Catfish,

I knew this man, he was so close to me I called him my Uncle. And I'm disgusted at how you choose to talk about this. What is wrong with you?

A Great Man who will be greatly missed! My family was blessed just by knowing him.

I find it completely appalling that people would even joke at the loss of another human being. You should be ashamed of yourselves. Put yourself in our shoes and think before you post.
