Very dangerous, If he was trying to fix a working/engaged propeller. Very sad.

Another clueless sailor. When will boaters ever learn what is safe and what is not??? Where was his life jacket and why was it not on him??? It is very sad that we lost another life to stupid actions of a clueless boater.
How do you know he wasnt wearing a life jacket? Where you there? Things can go wrong without the victim being " stupid "

It's also pretty hard to swim under your boat to untangle a line WEARING a life jacket. He was old enough to have been boating for 50 years, as far as WE know.

What kind and compassionate language from you. Such a humanitarian. It is very sad--and very unnecessary for you to call someone the names you have. How sweet of you.

I saw his boat on TV. Looks like an old woodie, which probably means he has been boating for 50 yrs.(old woodies RULE!)

People need to realize that when you've been boating for years, there's A LOT of potentially / seemingly dangerous things that you just start doing as a regular routing. You fix your own engines, etc etc.
You get used to pretty much anything happening when you're out on the water, it's not like there's a Triple-A service to swing by, and the "Safety First!" video becomes a distant memory (that is if you ever watched it). You can be a jerk and call unfortunate victims like this guy "stupid," but if you do I would be you probably never go out onto Lake Erie, much less go out on the water anywhere.

I would bet that the unfortunate guy went under his boat to untangle things and in the process was knocked over the head by his own boat. Lake Erie is quite choppy, boats really bob on the water, and a head knocking on the boat was my first guess. But then there's a ton of other things that could've happened. Heart attack, stroke, you name it.

I'm not going to rest until thay can prove for sure that it wasn't a giant catfish. There's been too many strange drownings in Ohio this year. Parks and Rec needs to do an in-deapth investigation.
