Part of the reason it's been 88 years is history. 5 of the presidents from ohio were arguable in the top 10 worst presidents to sit in office. The other 2 just didn't do anything. Any one that know a little about history would probably be influenced by it.

When John Glenn ran for president, the state backed other candidates instead of its own son.
No doubt Gov. John Kasich is interested. Let's see what unfolds next.

Michael Coleman has all of the attributes, ability, and genuine mindset, to be President and completely piss the entire country away - while saving time for a dying nation.

Westerville itself may be why no one from Ohio has emerged as a presidential contender. Westerville has a history of being anti-american, you decide.
Was John Glenn passing secret US info to the Soviets during his Europian trip to prevent Reagen, Thatcher and the Pope from toppling the Soviet Union.

Thank you for mentioning Col. John Glenn, his life was in imminent danger during dogfights with Russian pilots flying MIG jets during the Korean war. He is the true war hero, while Ronald Reagan staged a sound bite about tearing down the Berlin wall during the economic collapse of the Soviet Union.

John Glenn continues to contribute to the general welfare of Ohio after serving as a senator and now as advisor to the School of Public Affairs at Ohio State.

Thank you John Glenn for your unselfish service.

Staged at the Berlin Wall?
Using "advisor", the British form of the word adviser. The Associated press doe not allow the use of the word advisor. Ohio State gave him that non title, non paying job because he was an Astronaut
Allow me to contrast John Kasich with John Glenn.
John Kasich went to Washington while at Ohio State to confer with Richard Nixon in 1970. Nixon extended the Vietnam War for 5 years after he promised a peace settlement. Kasich had a student deferment while his peers were putting their careers in jeopardy. Richard Nixon was pardoned for alleged crimes of arranging break-ins, wiretapping and money laundering. Of the 55,000 American killed during the war, half occurred after Nixon promised to end the war based on the design of the war memorial.

John Glenn served in Korea and put his life on the line to keep communist hordes from
over running the entire pennisula.

John Kasich represented a district in Westerville in the House of Repreentative and claims to have played a roll in balancing the budget while Newt Gingrish was speaker.

John Glenn represented Ohio as a US Senator and worked to get funding for many federal projects in Ohio.

John Kasich was a manager at Lehman Brothers and met with Ohio PERS regarding the purchase of securities. When Lehman Brothers filed bankruptcy, PERS investments of
$200 million were lost. The Bush SEC failed to investigate Lehman's records and managers at Lehman Brothers were not charged with misfeasance, malfeasance or nonfeasance.

John Kasich worked as a commentator for FOX opinion News. He also reported that the School of Business at Ohio State paid him several thousand dollars in speakers fees for quarterly guest lectures. He claimed it was fair compensation??

As you said, John Glenn does not receive an honorarium.

John Ksasich is selfish as he never paid back OPERS in Columbus Ohio to the tune of $200 million after Lehman stiffed them. He also failed miserably during his run for the presidency. The people of Ohio did not vote for him.

Playing devils advocate I think you need to really step back and think about what you are saying. Scenario...You work for Sun TV as a manager at the store on Alum Creek. The company goes bankrupt as we all know it did. As the manager of the store on Alum Creek are you required to pay back the debt the company took into the bankruptcy. Would you take money out of your own pocket to pay back debt that you did not have control over? I think not. Your class envy is misplaced. You think because Kasich had a contract that paid him a bonus if his contract was terminated, he should pay back company losses? Do you also feel that if OSU doesn't win that Jim Tressel should be required to pay back the bonus he gets for taking the buckeyes to the playoffs? Of course not because that doesn't fit your liberal agenda or the marching orders your union has given you. Remove the compensation from the equation and all you have is class envy against Kasich. Why are you and the union not going after those who were in charge of investments in the retirement systems? The responsibility to preserve capital falls squarely on the officers elected by those with investments in a retirement plan yet you chose not to call them out for putting too many eggs in the wrong basket. Why?...Because it doesn't fit your liberal agenda or marching orders. Were you a member of the board in OPERS? What proof do you have that the amount lost was $200,000 lost by Lehman Brothers? Are you telling me that no other company was used by the retirement plan to handle investments? Why single out Kasich? Because it fits your liberal agenda and marching orders. Were you invested in OPERS? Do you know what happened when Enron went under in 2001? OPERS was invested in Enron but the Police and Fire was heavily invested in Enron. OPERS has maintained the 30 year required funds to pay retirees. Police and Fire did not. It is because of Police and Fire that sweeping reform came to all the retirement plans. Who was responsible for Police and Fire losses? I'll give you a clue...it wasn't Kasich. It was the fund managers. Your frustration is misplaced.
