Erika Haslam of Akron cheers at the Obama party Thursday at St. Joseph Family Center in Akron. About 1,200 showed up to watch television coverage of Barack Obama delivering his historic presidential acceptance speech. (Paul Tople/Akron Beacon Journal: Seriously BJ work on editing this thing before it goes out, its a Democratic party Nomination speech, not a presidential acceptance speech, he's not president and probably won't be elected the way lazy Democrats turn out for elections, but if he is I can't wait for the 95 cents a gallon gas prices, nationwide free health insurance, the Iraq War ending within a week of him being sworn in and everyone in America will get a job and if you already have one you will get a 5 dollar an hour raise.( Obama's fantasy world he delivers in eacha nd every speech he gives, ALL TALK--NO WALK)

It you make more than $75k, send it in to Obama. If you make less than $75k, Obama will make sure that you do, now.

Don't get me wrong. I like Obama, and I plan to vote for him like I did in the primary. And I hope he wins. BUT I don't know that he will. Unfortunately, the reason Republicans win elections is they can pander to the lowest common denominator of America, as most voters are stupid, only remembering anything negative (human nature) and live by the 30 second sound bite. John McCain, by his negative ads, knows how to do that. His allies also know how to smear. Barak does too, but is trying to rise above the fray and the use of Chicago style politics, which may not work. The best way for him to win is to go negative.'John McCain is a reactionarily angry, half senile old man who can't let his wartime past go, using it as a crutch against any criticism. Do you really want him in charge of our nukes?' Nuff said.

Actually, I have almost agree with SmartGuy, though not it the way he said it. The problem with Obama trying to change things is crap rolls downhill. The crap that is this current administration's policies will roll downhill, as does every administration's policies, and he'd have to deal with the fallout from that while trying to enact his own policies. Will things change? Sure, I believe so. Will change happen as much as he claims it will? No, at least not during the first term. Remember, Clinton had to help clean up Bush Sr.'s leftover mess, before we prospered in his second term. Same thing here, only moreso, as Bush Jr left more of a mess to clean up.

Intereting isn't it how he is "African American" when it suites his need? His mother is white so he is not Africian American - he is BI-RACIAL.

Not that I'm against an Africian American president - I think that would be great but let's get all our facts straight. AND, no president is better than the next everyone (not me) just likes to feed into their bull crap.

obama had my vote, depending on who he chose for vp, now i am even stronger for him after hearing him last night, i for him for many reasons, most primarily because he sees the problems we have right here at home and around the world, i also not just listened, but was feeling his heart, we want him because he is not making this a race issue, he is running on his qualifications and desire to UNITE all americans and make sure all races, no matter what color they are have equal opportunities! I do believe that the naacp and others bringing up martin luther king, saying if it wasn't for him this history would not be being made, I disagree, black, white, purple , orange, or green, if a candidate could convince the public that it is their wish to help ALL americans, no favoritism to any race, no matter who is was that was running, they would be the same place sen.obama is. I think the people that keep mentioning what a great victory this is for black people are hurting mr. obama's chances because part of his policy he declares is to UNITE all americans,(no race thing in it)...most black people see this as a victory over whites, and that is wrong and that is the fear that they keep installing in white voters that once he gets in, it will be like m.l. king, marching through peaceful , white , neighborhoods who were not bothering anyone, and they took time and effort to live somewhere where it was a peaceful community, and it was disrupted by the marches led by him that said to all those people, "we do not care if you like you peacefulness upset or not, we are coming through. Even now, when people gather in groups to protest peacefully for causes we believe in , the police , mace, tase, arrest, etc...so i think the naacp, and mentioning m.l.king is going to cost sen.obama a lot ov votes, because he wants to united america, and those groups see this as a victory over whites, and if that is how they feel, that is not what we want. we want a peaceful america where everyone respects each other and that is what Mr. Obama wants also, if he is truthful. Leave the race thing out of it. He did not run for the betterment of all black americans, like they are trying to make it. He ran for the betterment of his country, and ALL citizens in the United States , like he said, no matter what race, creed, color, religion , old, young ,gay, etc. so the people that are making it a black victory thing need to shut up, cause i am for him and biden all the way, but i must admit after hearing naacp, and comments about m.l.king, who i feel started a lot of hate between whites and blacks, i have done some double thinking since i saw comments made during convention form them, even though barrack re-iterated that he ran for everyone's benefit, not to better just blacks.

Obama said he would invest in alternative sources of energy in order to stimulate jobs and not be dependent on foreign oil with a goal of ten years.
I feel that was the one most important statement

one more thing: all those trying to make it a black issue, think about this: you are all going against mr. obama's heritage when you try to do so. if you are pressuring him to use his victory as such, you are also pressuring him to go against his own blood lines of white in him, (his mother, grandparents, etc) that is not right when that is exactly why he has so much empathy for all americans, he is not predjudiced toward either, as he is both combined and knows first-hand the hardships and feelings of both, now why doen't everybody get off the race kick. If he were an alien from out of space, and he was trying to help america and live peacefully among ourselves and the world, I would even vote for the alien, who has the promise of hope and a better future for ALL americans and who can respect citizens of other countries, worlds, etc. and treat them like we want to be treated also.
