I wonder how many out of the 20 of them are actually working and paying their own way?

-OR-

Are they like the majority of the refugees that have flooded our City living off Welfare, Food Stamps, Heap, Section 8 and anything that is "free".

I reside in this area appox. 4 months per year. I don't have a dog in this fight but it sure looks like most of the non locals in this area are employed in most of the jobs. Perhaps Uticans and other locals are to good to do menial labor and would rather game the system. I'm very proud of these new citizens. On the other end of the spectrum, half of this brown wave of illegal invaders from south of the border need to be sent back to Mexico post haste.

That, to me, is only common sense, but it seems like many immigrants today expect us to adjust to whatever their customs are. That is not only unreasonable, it is not good for the stability of our culture and country. I'm not saying not to respect diverse cultures. I'm saying anyone who wants to come to the U.S. needs to respect and be willing to fit into our culture.
Is that not what makes this country great? The blending of so many cultures adds diversity. Would you enjoy living in an area where everyone is the same? Think about it.

This Country was by the original immigrants BUT NONE of them expected anyone else to support them or feed them!!!!

They all contributed much to our Constitution, and were not afraid to support themselves as well as share with others what little they had for themselves. This is far different from the ones now coming into the USA who make little effort to even speak our language, obey our laws, or even support themselves. Many of these immigrants bring their own unfit way of life with them making their basic home enviroment unfit for even a dog to live in.

Welfare, Section 8, Food Stamps, Medicaid are all funded with tax monies paid by USA citizens that work hard at whatever jobs they can find to support their families. Why shouldn't these immigrants be doing the same?

I given the Bosians much credit for all they have accomplished in the past years since they adopted the USA as their home. The majority of them have bought homes and turned them into Castles and are on the tax rolls, as well as working and contributing to Society. They have learned our language and adopted to our lifestyle and very few of them have been arrested for criminal activities. The Bosians are shinning examples of what ALL immigrants to our County should be doing!

Ask any one of your children that attends Proctor what they think of the Asian Gangs that infest E. Utica and attend this school!!!!
congrats

Tell that to Utica Italians.....4 and 5 generations later, and they still haven't assimilated......even moving them from East Utica to Frankfort didn't facilitate cultural assimilation. Not sure what to do next.

Agree the Bosnians have been a great addition to Utica; we need more of them. The level of trouble that repeatedly appears from Karen and other local Asian immigrants and this gang issue is shameful. Whoever brought them here, needs to do a tigher job of ensuring these issues are better managed and that their families manage this better. More immigrants from South America would be great. They are hard working, family values, and clean.

Immigrants are NOT the enemy.....they have made this nation great.....we need to be thoughtful, however, about assimilating those whom we bring and ensuring a path to employment for those who come. There are far more 5th and 6th generation Americans in Utica bilking disability, welfare, and workers comp because they don't want to do certain kinds of work at certain wages. That's the problem that needs to be addressed, not the immigrants. I am American and I approve this message.

They do not come here to do work Americans wont, thats a farce in case you havent noticed, they come here to reap our benifits. At the rate of immigration, legal and illegal there will be 75 million 3rd. World cultures in 24 years with horendouse consiquences for our children. We cant afford it.

You sound ridiculous! Nobody cares about what you find acceptable, and those families definitely don't care what YOU think! Give me a break!

I am talking about the American people who settle these immigrants here. In case you haven't noticed, there's a whole machine -- a very sophisticated operation behind this, locally.....and they should care. This has nothing to do with what I "find acceptable" (your quote). The reason why immigration worked here at the turn of the 19th century is because there was a structure and focus on Americanizing the immigrants......compare that to what is happening now.....total loosey goosey approach and it isn't working.
