Rachel Misener's church ran a background check on her when she became a vacation Bible school leader.

Offended? Nope.

She appreciated that St. Andrew's Episcopal Cathedral had policies in place to safeguard children against potential predators - an approach she believes all places of worship should take ...

from clarionledger:

"Like other denominations, the Episcopal Church has taken steps to protect children and youth in light of church scandals of recent years."

What good is a background check if you ignore the results?

When PB Kate Schori was Bishop of Neveda, she received a Roman Catholic pedophile priest into TEC on the condition he stay away from children, but he didn't.

TEC also reinstated Bennison as bishop of PA despite his involvement in a cover up involving the sexual misconduct of his brother, who was a priest at the time, and a young girl.

Another double standard in TEC: one for its clerics, another for its congregation.

And they wonder why TEC is losing members?

Joe how do you do it in the Church of Rome?

Can we discuss this item as compared to the quote I used from the article you published?

Isn't the real question who in the church is responsible for protecting the youth from sexual abuse?

Calls for Pope Benedict to be tried for 'crimes against humanity'

Victims and attorneys deliver complaint to the International Criminal Court in the Hague

By CATHY HAYES, IrishCentral.com Staff Writer

The International Criminal Court in the Hague has been asked to investigate Pope Benedict and three cardinals for alleged crimes against humanity, for what they have described as the cover-up of clerical abuse.

Ten victims and attorneys from the Center for Constitutional Rights, a non-profit group based in New York, delivered a detailed complaint against the Pope and Vatican officials on Tuesday, which accuses them of maintaining a "long-standing and pervasive system of sexual violence".

“The high-level officials of the Catholic church who failed to prevent and punish these criminal actions,” the complaint states,“have, to date, enjoyed absolute impunity.”

From the article:

Vickie Carollo, the Safe Environment coordinator of the Office of Child Protection for the Catholic Diocese of Jackson, said since 1986, the Diocese of Jackson has been committed to ensuring that children served by the church are not at risk of sexual abuse by church personnel.

"Over the years the policies have undergone revision and updating to reflect the church's care and concern to provide safe environments for our children," she said.

Carollo said the program applies to all institutions and groups that operate under the diocese.

"We provide a criminal background screening process on all employees and volunteers working with children and youth, in addition to providing initial safe environment training and a retraining every two years," Carollo said.

Lets face it folks, you aren't going to keep pedophiles out of churches. The big reason why is because church staff are trusted by everyone, and everyone (atleast used to) trusted them with their children. They use the church and weak minded people to get closer to children. That is why they should do away with orginized religion and let people practice religion at home. Religion is a huge scam anyways.

So we should stop trying?
But why would anyone let a KNOWN pedophile priest into church in the first place?

Did you know that a doctrine was created by the Catholic church to cover up sexual abuse by church staff on children? It would threaten the children and their families with excommunication. And who created this doctrine you ask? THE CURRENT POPE!!!

Oh so correct, the present Bishop of Rome had been Prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, the modern version of the Inquisition.

And we have this story on 9/22/11 in the New York Time.

http://topics.nytimes.com/top/reference/times...

Pope Benedict XVI

Prior to his elevation, Benedict had led the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, a key Vatican office, in which he was seen as a tough enforcer of John Paul’s strongly conservative views.

and

The church’s long-running sexual abuse scandal flared up with new rounds of accusations, and has threatened to define Benedict's papacy. He has faced accusations that he and direct subordinates often did not alert civilian authorities or discipline priests involved in sexual abuse when he served as archbishop in Germany and as the Vatican's chief doctrinal enforcer.

and

Benedict's planned visit to Germany in September 2011 encapsulated much of the turmoil that has defined his papacy. Instead of a pleasant visit to his native land, the trip promised to be a journey to the front lines in the battle over the future of the church, with demands for change on a variety of controversial issues, including the celibacy requirement for priests, women’s role in the church, gay rights and aid for victims of sexual abuse by priests. Many in Parliament threatened to boycott his speech to its members.

However, of all European countries, Ireland has undergone perhaps the most profound transformation in its relationship to the Catholic Church, an institution that permeated almost every aspect of life there for generations. In summer 2011, Irish prime minister Enda Kenny unexpectedly took the floor in Parliament to express his outrage over the revelations in the Cloyne Report, which detailed abuse and cover-ups by church officials in southern Ireland through 2009. The Vatican withdrew its ambassador from Dublin, and the Irish government announced that it would introduce a package of legislation to protect children.

The doctrine is called, CRIMEN SOLLICITATIONIS. It was created by the Vatican Press, March 16, 1962. The name of the doctine is written in latin. The current Pope was in charge of establishing this doctrine. It was discovered after a Priest in California, that was charged with sexual abuse of a minor, called a friend that was a priest in Rome and asked for a copy of the doctrine. Well he did what he wasn't supposed to do and gave the doctrine to his lawyer. That is how this secret doctrine came to light. And if you are wondering why the Pope hasn't been investigated for trying to cover up sexual abuse of minors. In 2005, the Pope was granted immunity by President Bush for liability of any sex abuse case in the United States.

So the Vatican Press prints in "Pig" Latin; I haven't heard that tongue spoken since the Three Stooges.

BTW, the Pope, as head of a city state called the Vatican, has diplomatic immunity, just like any other head of state, even if it's Iran.

Crimen sollicitationis (Latin: the crime of soliciting) is the title of a 1962 document ("Instruction") of the Holy Office (which is now called the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith) codifying procedures to be followed in cases of priests or bishops of the Catholic Church accused of having used the sacrament of Penance to make sexual advances to penitents.[2][3]

It repeated, with additions, the contents of an instruction issued in 1922 by the same office.[2][4]

The 1962 document, approved by Pope John XXIII and signed by Cardinal Alfredo Ottaviani, Secretary of the Holy Office, was addressed to "all Patriarchs, Archbishops, Bishops and other Local Ordinaries, including those of Eastern Rite". It gave specific instructions on how to carry out the rules in the Code of Canon Law:[5] on dealing with such cases, and directed that the same procedures be used when dealing with denunciations of homosexual, paedophile or zoophile behaviour by clerics. Dioceses were to use the instruction for their own guidance and keep it in their archives for confidential documents;[6] they were not to publish the instruction nor produce commentaries on it.[7]

Crimen sollicitationis remained in effect until 18 May 2001, when it was replaced by new norms promulgated by the papal motu proprio Sacramentorum sanctitatis tutela of 30 April of the same year.[8][9] Normally it would have ceased to have effect with the entry into force of the 1983 Code of Canon Law, which replaced the 1917 Code on which the 1962 document was based, but it continued in use, with some necessary adaptations, while a review of it was carried out

There you go that is what wikipedia say about it.

It does exactly the opposite.

from the National Catholic Reporter:

"That Crimen Sollicitationis was not designed to 'cover up' sex abuse, canonists say, is clear in paragraph 15, which obligates anyone with knowledge of a priest abusing the confessional for that purpose to come forward, under pain of excommunication for failing to do so. This penalty is stipulated, the document says,'lest [the offense] remain occult and unpunished and always with inestimable detriment to souls.'"

The Queen of England is a Head of State and Defender of the Faith.

The Established Church

The Church of England is the established church, meaning, amongst other things:

the Monarch is the the Supreme Governor of the church (theologically Jesus is the head),

the Church performs a number of official functions,

Church and State are linked

Now the Bishop of Rome is more then just a Head of State. He is a Living God-King! WOW!!!!

http://www.newadvent.org/cathen/12260a.htm

From the Catholic Encycloped:

(Ecclesiastical Latin papa from Greek papas, a variant of pappas father, in classical Latin pappas — Juvenal, "Satires" 6:633).

The title pope, once used with far greater latitude (see below, section V), is at present employed solely to denote the Bishop of Rome, who, in virtue of his position as successor of St. Peter, is the chief pastor of the whole Church, the Vicar of Christ upon earth.

Besides the bishopric of the Roman Diocese, certain other dignities are held by the pope as well as the supreme and universal pastorate: he is Archbishop of the Roman Province, Primate of Italy and the adjacent islands, and sole Patriarch of the Western Church. The Church's doctrine as to the pope was authoritatively declared in the Vatican Council in the Constitution "Pastor Aeternus". The four chapters of that Constitution deal respectively with the office of Supreme Head conferred on St. Peter, the perpetuity of this office in the person of the Roman pontiff, the pope's jurisdiction over the faithful, and his supreme authority to define in all questions of faith and morals. This last point has been sufficiently discussed in the article INFALLIBILITY, and will be only incidentally touched on here.

The present article is divided as follows:

I. Institution of a Supreme Head by Christ
II. Primacy of the Roman See
III. Nature and Extent of the Papal Power
IV. Jurisdictional Rights and Prerogatives of the Pope
V. Primacy of Honour: Titles and Insignia
