It is good to see some people continue to work hard to make a difference for others. IF everyone, or even just a handful of people stepped up in one way or another, imagine the possibilities.
Good luck girls in your futures. Your opportunities are endless simply because someone let you you know there are better options and actually let you know with hard work there is a better way for life.
I hope all of you will find a way to give back somewhere down the road.

I was beaming with pride at seeing Leroy Jackson make such an impact with the kids from his alma mater. He was a dear friend of mine through out high school and always seemed more of a "protective brother." It's good to see that he remains true to his character and continues to seek out the good in kids and encourage them to something positive with their lives. I always new that he was destined to do something great!

Sounds like a pretty stand up guy,
But too the author of the article... Desert Shields? really? Might want to do a little bit of research into the proper name of this operation. Silly mistake. FYI Desert Shield.
#4 Mar 22, 2010
Its about time someone believes in the city and our youth!
Keep up the good work.
Just and FYI, we also have some very good resource officers at LHS.
This program is a resource we should never lose.

Nice to see stories on people like this making a difference. Thanks you!!
#6 Mar 22, 2010
Yes, this really is a great story. Let's all hope and pray that Leroy really is the swell guy that he appears to be.
Just earlier this month, RI School Resourse Officer Robert Hamlin, who worked at the Providence RI High School, was arrested along with 2 other Providence cops; and all were charged with being part of a cocaine dealing operation.
My guess is that everyone at Providence HS was quite fond of Officer Hamlin and thought that he was a real stand up guy..........

congratulations to all three girls for not dropping out,you have made a wonderful decision, hope you can continue with your education, and reach your goal once again congratulations, and leroy jackson thanks for helping out these young girls, i know you have been there for mines and i hope you will continue to do so with my grandkids,
#8 Mar 23, 2010
I agree, it's nice to see such a positive presence in the school for these kids, you will make a lifelong impact on some of them. They definitely need that today. Keep up the good work Mr. Jackson.
#9 Mar 23, 2010
What is wrong with you? Every comment you make has a negative spin...no one has to worry about Leroy Jackson...his reputation speaks for itself!
#10 Mar 23, 2010
That's what the Townfolk of Providence RI were all saying about their school resourse officer, Robert Hamlin.....
#11 Mar 23, 2010
How could I guess that you would have something to say about this!!! Implying that Officer Jackson is involved in wrongdoing... Just par for the course with you. I'm surprised you didn't say he "has his hands in a poopie pie!" YUK!!! Poopie pies!!!
Think recovery!!! Recovery from that persecution complex from your perception of being wronged by law enforcement officials that enforced the law when you digressed from society's norms AND
recovery from your NPD, and OCD.
See your MD for a good psych referral.

I am not implying that good ol' Occifer Leroy Jackson is involved in wrongdoing; I am just saying let's all keep our eyes open and our guards up; just in case.....
Again, the story of the School Resource Officer at the Providence RI High School; Officer Robert Hamlin. just happened THIS MONTH, and it was right up the highway from us. I am reasonably sure that until the day of his arrest on drug charges, that everyone at the Providence RI High School thought that good ol' Occifer Hamlin was a real straight shooter..........
#13 Mar 23, 2010
Oh, you ARE implying... It's part of your issue with veracity. You twist things using semantics, throw a few stones from that tree you hide behind and then say, "What me?????? That's not what I meant," (with the emphasis on "I", of course).
FOR THE RECORD: Officer Leroy Jackson is a fine police officer and a fine school resource officer. he is an asset to this community. He is also a fine example of a United States marine,(never an ex-marine. One can be a former marine, or it is implied that once you WERE a marine you will always remain a marine).
He has a distinguished record OF PUBLIC SERVICE.
Darn Tootin' has not once shared his/her positive contributions to society, most likely becaue there is none. nothing. nada.
It is most likely a record of taking, wanting, beaching, pizzing, and complaining.
Why do I say that,(along with other things)? BECAUSE the record speaks for itself. The RECORD is here-on this forum.
SO Mr./Mrs./Ms. Tootin', what have you done for us lately???????(THIS absolutely does not count as community involvement OR service). If your current CORI prohibits you from working with youth groups and others, I'm sorry. BUT do share...

You've gotten your panties in a bunch and it is starting to show in your posts.
I am not a taker and I am not asking for anything for myself. As I have pointed out a few times over the past year or so, I noticed that the police and their faithful supporters were using Topix Forum sites everywhere as a vehicle for their propaganda. And, I already knew that they have PLENTY OF SKELETONS in their closets, so I thought it was my civic duty to point out the other side of the law enforcement story.
#15 Mar 23, 2010
JUST ANSWER THE QUESTIONS!!! TAKE THE NARCISSIST TEST!!!
This is "Your civic duty?" What have you done for us lately? What, to you is obsessing on the topic of police misconduct and brutality throughout the world tantamount to walking little old ladies across the street, shoveling snow from fire hydrants, picking up rubbish, or reading to the blind? Like many other things you write, calling that "a civic duty" seems like a "stretch." We can read the newspapers and watch television.
If you need volunteer opportunities, or ideas for hobbies, I'm sure the dear readers would be able to give you some ideas.
Other than that, leave Leroy Jackson alone. He's a fine man, police officer, school resource officer, and marine.
What are you????? Oh, yes, everything I mentioned in the previous post except for... a taker...

Hey Folks, in case anyone thinks that I am overreacting regarding our Nation's School Resource Officers; here are some more stories:
1/08/10 East Ridge TN; School Resouce Officer Jeff Edwin Baker 38; who worked at the middle school, charged with two counts of statutory rape.
4/08/08 Laurens County SC School Resource Officer
Robert David Johnston 35; 4 counts of lewd acts with children (ages 10, 9, 7, 6)
12/16/09 Darlington County SC School Resource Officer Dominick Robinson charged with intent to distribute marijuana.
8/17/04 Sanford SC School Resource Officer Darryl Thompson is charged with multiple thefts from Lowes; some of which were in uniform.
5/10/07 Swain County NC School Resource Officer Joseph Scott Smith, 24, charged with having sex with a student.
6/15/07 Sandwich NH School Resource Officer Michael Caico is charged with soliciting oral sex with who he thought was a 14 year old. It was actually an undercover cop, not a 14 year old.
7/28/07 Orange County FL School Resource Officer Deputy Louis Mercado of the Timber Lake High School is charged with sexual battery on a child younger than 12.
3/10/10 Nashville TN School Resource Officer James Stackhouse; a 17 year veteran of the force, indicted on two counts of statutory rape.
I am afraid that we all have to realize that we need to keep a close eye on our nation's school resource officers. It would be foolish to let our guards down, knowing what we know about some of them.
#17 Mar 23, 2010
I just focus on police wrongdoing and corruption in the US; I do not follow what is going on worldwide.
I can probably make some sort of difference on the subject both locally and nationally. But, even someone with my talents has to admit their limitations. I am not ready to tackle police wrongdoing on a worldwide level right now. But, who knows what the future may bring?
#18 Mar 23, 2010
"even someone with my talents has to admit their limitations."
How telling is THAT statement to your mental/social/emotional well-being. take the test, see your doctor, get some help, get into recovery with other OCD patients, and really, try to get a life. This IS old, old, old, old. you're just recycling and re-hashing oold news.
#19 Mar 23, 2010
AND you're still a con.
CU at the parole office!!!
#20 Mar 23, 2010
I beg to differ! All of the stuff I posted regarding School Resource Officers is new material for me. I did not rehash anything! NOW who's veracity do we need to question? Yours!
I am starting to work on my up and coming Holiday Edition works. It requires plenty of my time; but I am sure that it will dazzle the Topix Forum Readers next holiday season.......
