Indeed, Though i'm still pagan and haven't decided which route to travel, i agree completely. Religion is there for spiritual guidance, not money making, but i must say that it's a step in the right direction, even if the motives may not be the best in the world. Many christians are tired of the negative outlook of the catholic church and may see this as an opportunity to choose a differnet path.

I do agree that this is most likely a publicity stunt, but i do like the possibilities for a more accepting community that this opens up

How tacky! I agree! The resources that will be accumulated maybe worth it though?! I mean one person commented in the article that finding a balance in between the different practices was one of herr challenges! So if people contribute as well as seek it could be worth having a physical location to learn from!?!

As i have stated; Old Wiccan law tells all followers not to reveal that they are Wiccan, in fact you are suppose to shun the idea of witchcraft in the presence of others. Have any of you never read the founding book of the Wiccan religion? It blaintly says that you are not to do exactly what you people are doing. YOU ARE PERVERTING NOTHING MORE THAN YOUR OWN BELIEFS!!!!

First off, you over righteous pile of parts! There is no person here that is breaking the rules of the Rede. I'm NOT Wiccan! There are three known Tianice in this forum and I'm one of them. He's referring to the set of Laws that accompanies the Gadnerian (and Alexandrian) Traditions- which are as a Gardnerian Elder put it aptly:

On a funny, but pragmatic note, when we study them amongst ourselves, we note that if the current adminstration remains in power- we might actually have to re-erect some of the old Laws... funny- in a grim way!

Basically, if one reads through them carefully, little is mandated, but a lot of common sense and thinking through things is instilled. Taking caution in things Craft-related is the theme.

However, these laws are guidelines, not commandments. I rather think that if Gardner were floating around in the Ether like some kind of Jesus, rather then smoting people for not following his Laws, he would be bonking some sense into people for being dogmatic control freaks about them instead.
