Where The Ragged People Go

#1 Feb 2, 2013
The Drain du Jour, New Mexico, described by retiring FBI Special Agent in Charge,Thomas C. McClenaghan, FBI Field Office, Albuquerque, NM, as "The Corruption Capital of the United States" in a January 2009, interview on CBS affiliate KRQE Channel 13 News.
New Mexico is awash in US Armed Forces installations, national laboratories, and other federal agency installations.

Just one of them, Sandia National Laboratories spent:

$1.4 BILLION on payroll and non-contracted related payments such as TRAVEL. Sandia National Laboratories alone employs about 10,000 people.

$896.3 MILLION on contract related payments on things like circuit boards and maintenance services.

$400 MILLION went to New Mexico vendors for assorted goods and services.

$66.4 MILLION in Gross Receipts Taxes to the State of New Mexico.
Albuquerque is one of the TOP recipients of Federal $$$.

$65 MILLION was spent on "PROCUREMENT CARDS" (READ CREDIT CARDS), which is how employees get around buying items without going through the National Labatories' procurement process. In the past, an employee was found to have purchased even A BRAND NEW MUSTANG with these "procurement cards". Thankfully, she was fired.

$2.4 MILLION in "technical advice" was provided to 194 Small Businesses in 22 New Mexico counties free of charge to the businesses, financed through YOUR tax dollars.
